Want to see a true one party state - look at California.
With the help of the media they control the state government.
Any time the people pass a proposition they quickly take it to the state court that over rules the vote of the people.
Then to make sure that only they are in charge they set up elections so it is usually only two Democrats running for office.
And let us not even go with how easy they are making it for illegals to vote.
So it is not Republicans setting up one party states - it is the Democrats.

The first, and really the only time I’ve watched Joy Reid is on those delightful YouTube videos showing everyone laughing at the idea of Donald Trump having a shot at being President. The one where Ann Coulter is asked which Republican has the best chance of winning the nomination and she answers, “...Donald Trump” and Reid laughs in disbelief.

Even my cat knows that the Ugly, Unindicted, Smelly, Waddling, Screeching Criminal Fat Cow with the initials HRC holds the record of 18 months and counting of whining and falling down stairs in hissy fits about not accepting the results of the Constitutional 2016 presidential election.
But she won the popular vote, you know… multiple voting crooks, the entire pervert electorate, unqualified voters, many children and pets, illegal aliens, sundry other cows, etc etc.
Only two times in my lifetime did a losing Presidential candidate refuse to concede: Al Gore and Hillary Clinton (albeit Clinton did the next day, grudgingly). Both Democrats.

It’s so ironic. It was Republicans who pushed for military strength during the Cold War, and it was Democrats who balked when Reagan called them the ‘Evil Empire’. Now that Russia isn’t the USSR and the same purveyor of Communism, the Democrats finally see them as the Evil Empire.

Regarding political parties in DC, Ms Reid overlooks the following.
Given that one of the very few powers that the states have expressly constitutionally delegated to the feds to control domestic policy is to run the US Mail Service (1.8.7), most other federal domestic programs based on stolen state powers, the key question that Ms Reid needs to ask is this.
How many political parties does it take to run the mail service?
I say none, no political parties needed to run the mail service.
In fact, the states need to amend the Constitution to prohibit political party support for federal offices imo.
Didn’t Kim Jong Un voice the same concerns about his opponent during his last election campaign?
Everybody needs to be concerned about “Coexistence” with God. No, our modern right hasn’t cemented it even with political moves. Sometimes God chooses party A to chasten before party B is chastened — read your prophetic history. Don’t be smug — use your victory wisely, to offer before the Lord. If clutched to self, it too will earn punishment.
The American public woke up in 2016, and hopefully wills stay awake in November 2016. There really needs to be a Red tsunami!
