The National Rifle Association of America (NRA) has filed a collective lawsuit against New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D), New York State's Superintendent of Financial Services Maria T. Vullo and the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS).
The NRA claims Cuomo, Vullo and DFS knowingly went to banks and insurance companies to tell them not to work with the pro-gun group, Rolling Stone first reported.
"Simply put, Defendants made it clear to banks and insurers that it is bad business in New York to do business with the NRA," the lawsuit says. "As a direct result of this coercion, multiple financial institutions have succumbed to Defendants demands and entered into consent orders with DFS that compel them to terminate longstanding, beneficial business relationships with the NRA, both in New York and elsewhere."

Sounds like a RICO case to me.
Wouldn’t it be great if not only the NRA won this case decidedly but also sued the state of NY and won, oh, $20B or so to boot then turned around and used a lot of that cash to fight the draconian gun laws in NY and got them overturned? Winning!
It has got to be illegal to coerce businesses like banks to not do business with a legal civil rights organization. The longest running one in America. Cuomo needs a severe spanking; both physically and financially. Break him so his great great grandchildren will still be paying the debt he owes.
Restraint of trade? RICO case as originally intended for organized crime...which New York state is.
When a powerful entity like a major state does this, it is implicitly a threat.
And people wonder why conservatives shun bigger government. The power to regulate is the power to destroy.
As I kid I learned in history that the fundamental component was economic: state controlled business.
This to me is the definition of fascism.
Defendants [The State] made it clear to banks and insurers that it is bad business illegal in New York to do business with the NRA," the lawsuit says. "As a direct result of this coercion, multiple financial institutions have succumbed to Defendants demands [de facto law backed by the threat of destruction of the business and ultimately gunpoint] and entered into consent orders with DFS that compel them to terminate longstanding, beneficial business relationships with the NRA, both in New York and elsewhere."
Cuomo has found a way to shut down NRA. Now we have to hope NRA can shut down Cuomo. If Cuomo is successful look for NY to ban sale of gunowner’s insurance of any sort in NY then to follow up to ban the sale of ANY insurance to gunowners.
NRA’S future does Not, depend upon a lawsuite. It depends upon the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution.
The gun grabbers can pound sand. Period.
I don’t have any faith in a New York judge or jury.
Why anyone does business in NY Ill never know.
Say, weren’t the hoggalinskis holding a rally outside NRA HQ today? Wonder how it’s going?
Because NYC is the financial capital. Follow the money.
Not sure. Eventually all that will be left of the Hogg, will be the squeal.
