Venezuela’s president, Nicolás Maduro, has survived an apparent and – if true – audacious assassination attempt when, according to official reports, drones loaded with explosives flew towards the president while he was speaking at a military parade in Caracas.
According to Maduro, the plot was concocted by an international cabal of rightwing schemers. He claimed the Colombian president, Juan Manuel Santos, was “behind the attack”, supported by a network of plotters and financiers based in Florida, adding that a group of hired assassins had already been captured.
Firefighters interviewed by the Associated Press, meanwhile, claimed that the bangs heard were caused by a gas tank explosion in a nearby apartment. Some local journalists have backed up the claim, posting photos on Twitter of smoke billowing from the Residancias Don Eduardo apartment building on the street where the attack took place.

The reaction of the easily stampeded & panicked military is yet another indication that when the fall of the Venezuelan government arrives it will be very rapid once it occurs. The rot and weakening continues.

Hoax until proven otherwise. If not a hoax it sounds like a home grown assassination plot with cheap drones, cheap explosives and amateurs. Those gas tank explosions could have been a contingency plan to destroy evidence.
If there was a 3rd party involved such as Columbia there role would have been limited. Perhaps intel or the drones themselves or explosives.
Maduro will use it as an excuse to arrest and confine political opponents or others trouble makers who’ve been acting in a lawful manner.
Well, if Maduro only listened to the Sanders/Cortez bunch none of this would never have happened. It would all be rainbows and unicorns.

The economy is in the $h!tter but we have time and money for a military parade.
I guess the people need these constant reminders that if they step out of line, the government still has means and will to kill everyone in the country.
I would hope if we had done this, we would have done a better job.
If we are going to miss and hit a building, I would hope that we would bring down the building on Maduro.
A few days later someone tries to kill him.

I think it was a pure ‘accident’....some gas explosion that happened to be within a block of the parade. So far, no one has shown any images of drones, or evidence....so I think that’s all fake.
Whatever it was, I hope the Secret Service has learned something! The paraglider in Scotland was an amateur.
