Full Title: Senate Democrats Introduce Resolution Condemning White House Attacks on Media: ‘The Press Is Not the Enemy’

A group of 10 Democratic senators introduced a resolution Wednesday calling on President Donald Trump to not restrict media access to the White House and affirm "the importance of a free and unfettered press."

The resolution is a response to the White House's decision to bar CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins from an open press event last week. It was a punitive measure after Collins asked Trump questions at an Oval Office photo op about a discussion with his former lawyer Michael Cohen about a payoff over an alleged affair. It's common practice for reporters to shout out questions during such occasions, although they frequently aren't answered.

"Punishing reporters for simply doing their job is a strongman tactic that cannot be tolerated in a free democracy. President Trump may not like tough questions, but that’s simply too bad," Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D., Conn.), who led the introduction, said in a statement. "Retaliating aBlumenthal's resolution was co-sponsored by nine other Democrats: Sens. Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Patty Murray (Wash.), Tom Udall (N.M.), Bob Menendez (N.J.), Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.), Ron Wyden (Ore.), Cory Booker (N.J.), Ben Cardin (Md.) and Maggie Hassan (N.H.).

They also released statements defending the media, with Menendez saying "the press is not the enemy of the American people," a reference to an attack frequently invoked by Trump.

Trump often blasts the media as "fake news," leading to admonishments from reporters like CNN's Jim Acosta that his invective will encourage someone to hurt a journalist or worse. Acosta tweeted out a widely shared video of him getting heckled by Trump's supporters in Tampa Bay, Florida, on Tuesday.nd banning reporters from public briefings on public property violates a public trust and perhaps the law."

He added the press' role in our democracy is "more critical than ever," according to The Hill.

Menendez and Booker aren’t the little people, that’s why.

“It’s common practice for reporters to shout out questions during such occasions.”

Which needs to stop.

The public through Free Republic issues a binding referendum labeling Democrats who defend the propagandist media as enemies of the public and freedom and subject to punishment in THIS life in perpetuity as soon as such can be implemented.

"Punishing reporters for simply doing their job is a strongman tactic that cannot be tolerated in a free democracy."

"Punishing TEACHERS for simply doing their job is a strongman tactic that cannot be tolerated in a free democracy." (There, fixed it.)

As a conservative teacher at one time who was fired simply for BEING CONSERVATIVE, THAT is what should never have been tolerated.

Imagine how much more President Trump could have accomplished if the entire traitorous, seditious democrat party
and the leftist FAKE NEWS industry weren't trying to drag America down all day, every day.

According to Gallup, 72% of Democrats trust the mainstream media, while only 37% of independents and 14% of Republicans do.

Which makes sense, they're a propaganda arm for the Democratic Party and leftist positions. I still find it fascinating how much everyone other than self-identified Democrats don't buy their bologna anymore, and how overwhelming Democrats do.

The media itself could resolve this conflict overnight, if they so wished.

There is a venue and many valid concerns that should and ought to be addressed, and the questions should be directed within those parameters. Many things, once considered to be of poor taste or irrelevant, never used to be brought up in open Q & A sessions, and questions shouted out of turn or from sources who really do not want to have a rational reply, are definitely in the realm of extreme rudeness.

IMHO, President Trump should begin dumping the press credentials of any reporter that shows disrespect to him, his staff, or government space*.

It will only take a few, prolly less than five, credential cancellations for the press to understand he means business.

This is a simple matter of respect and is a new phenomenon. Disrespect should not be tolerated from anyone, especially the press. They should know better.

The cancellations should be time limited.

* Shouting out questions as was done recently in the Oval Office should not be tolerated. Especially sense, as was the case, the question had nothing to do with the current topic and questions from the press had not been requested.

Why don’t they just outlaw conservatism and force everyone to watch the media 24/7 just like in 1984.

“It’s common practice for reporters to shout out questions during such occasions.”...…….the “press” has no use for decorum or politeness. Most act like animals or spoiled kids trying to get their way. Grow up! Try becoming adults for a while and perhaps, just perhaps, American’s will give you some slack instead of ridicule. Earn it!

It gives them about a 10 point advantage. Of course, they are going to protect their LEFT MEDIA CARTEL.
