With opinion polls showing U.S. public support for more gun control growing in the wake of mass shootings in recent years

Starting with a false premise leads to a false conclusion.

The NRA is facing internal pressure from this little-known force that is demanding that the leadership concede zero ground to gun-control advocates.

That is right. After all, what do the anti-gunners EVER concede in trade? NOTHING.

Therefore, they GET NOTHING.

I have never voted. Even as a life member, just haven’t delved into the politics of the organization enough to care. Maybe I should and will in the future as the current leadership is making some odd decisions.

“Marion Hammer, a past president of the NRA and one of the group’s most successful lobbyists, denounced unsanctioned candidates in a column...”

Shouldn’t ANY member be allowed to run for president?

With opinion polls showing U.S. public support for more gun control growing in the wake of mass shootings in recent years, the NRA is facing internal pressure from this little-known force that is demanding that the leadership concede zero ground to gun-control advocates.

Its rise has rattled the NRA leadership and threatens the association’s ability to hold on to moderate supporters and to make compromises that might help fend off tougher gun control measures, according to some of the two dozen gun-rights activists, policy experts and gun-control advocates interviewed for this story.

“Generally, they have a disproportionately huge amount of power in the gun-rights movement,” said Richard Feldman, a former NRA lobbyist.

Feldman hasn't been paying attention, and neither has the author. The "gundamentalist" faction goes all the way back to the 1977 NRA convention, when Harlon Carter and Neal Knox led the group of 2nd Amendment activists that seized control away from the squishy compromising types.

”With opinion polls showing U.S. public support for more gun control growing ”

That’s explains why gun purchases have plummeted.

Would those polls be conducted by the same LOSERS who predicted Hillary Rotten Clinton would be coronated Queen of the United States?

Hmmmm......”gundamentalist”??? Why, “I” am one of those!

Without the “gundamentalists”, the “Fudds” would have sold our gun rights out long ago.

Oh Geez... I hope they don’t have another “purge,” like they did with Neal Knox.

Compromise only takes away our ability to fend off tougher gun control measures.

I guess I would be one of those also.

The Problem with the NRA is they have not gone on offense against real gun control. The National Firearms Act of 1934 IS THE REAL GUN CONTROL. Yes this is the law referred to as the NFA that made it technically illegal for Americans to possess machine guns, short barrel shotguns, suppressors and many other such weapons that the Police and the Federal Government are allowed to have. The existence of the NFA is the validation behind all gun control measures. The idea Americans are limited to the types of arms we are allowed to bear is a myth. We are constitutionally protected to be armed the same as our government and the NFA defies that protection.

The NRA should have been fighting the NFA of 1934 on day one.

Full reapeal of the NFA and the GCA of 1968 should be the number one goal of the NRA. All gun control is rooted in these dangerous and unconstitutional laws.

I am definitely one Of “those”. The NRA had better start paying attention or, gee whiz, another group with a more heartfelt need for a very strong 2nd Amendment and a viable Constitution may be in control. I think we are very much for concealed carry, too, and open carry three. Let’s not have any doddering around, shall we?

I could go on about how beautiful our Constitution is, but I will relinquish the floor to others.

Yep. I’m a member of the NRA but they sometimes get soft. That’s why I’m also a member of the Gun Owners of America. They don’t see the need to “compromise” when others tell us to give up our constitutional rights.

If we get a couple more pro-gun Supreme Court Justices, we may start hearing a new lament from the anti-gunners: "Don't those pro-gun people believe in compromise. Every time we turn around they are demanding and GETTING looser restrictions on guns. It seems like we are on a slippery slope toward a time when there will be no restrictions at all. Why won't they meet us half way?"

I can hardly wait.
