We are hearing more al Qaeda stories because with Obama gone, there is no longer any need for the press to suppress them to fit his administration’s narrative that killing bin Laden effectively ended the war on terror and all our problems are from domestic lone wolves and right wingers.
Mohammed Atta was Egyptian, as is the present head of al Qaeda.
Mohammed Atta also was a member of the Hamburg cell- which was led by two Syrians- one an imam and the other a “retired” official of Syria’s intelligence agency- and Atta was the Hamburg student who met with the Iraqi diplomat that was planning an attack on Radio Free Europe in the Czech Republic.
Atta was according to one report from the 2001-2002 period, a member of the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood...probably joined it when he was in Syria writing his college paper on urban planning in Aleppo, if not before.
