It's what Harvard medical researchers call Trump Derangement Syndrome. "In a 2017 essay for a book co-edited by psychiatrists from Harvard Medical School and the Yale School of Medicine, clinical psychologist Jennifer Panning of Evanston, Ill., called the condition 'Trump Anxiety Disorder,' distinguishing it from a generalized anxiety disorder because 'symptoms were specific to the election of Trump and the resultant unpredictable sociopolitical climate,'" Matt Kwong reported for the CBC. "Though not an official diagnosis, the symptoms include feeling a loss of control and helplessness, and fretting about what's happening in the country and spending excessive time on social media, she said."
It might not surprise laymen that this condition is particularly acute in the Washington, D. C. metropolitan area. "Is he gonna blow us all up?," one of Elisabeth LaMotte's patients asked recently.
"It was a rhetorical question -- one that predated Trump's threats of a showdown with Iran this week," Kwong writes. "But if the question wasn't meant in earnest, the politically induced anxiety LaMotte is hearing about from her clients certainly is, says the founder of the D.C. Counselling and Psychotherapy Center."
"She refers to it as a 'collective anxiety' among patients who feel on edge about how potentially dire the president's decisions could be."
Good ol reliable Shrinks. Always chasing a buck with newly dreamed up “disorders”.
Um, might this have something to do with the fake media painting Trump as an unstable, racist, homophobic, Hitler and ogre? I would be very afraid if I believed all of the lies spread about him. But, I’m bright enough to know they are lies. Some people are not.
The correct term for it is actually Trump Derangement Syndrome.
The last season of American Horror Story dealt with Trump Anxiety disorder very well. The lesbian couple went completely murderously insane from it.
Psychiatry....a cure in search of a disease.
There's nothing unpredictable about it. Trump said what he was going to do, and he's doing it. They just don't like it.
> symptoms were specific to the election of Trump and the resultant unpredictable sociopolitical climate
Literally a creation of the Democrat fake news media, which propagandizes people so hard they develop psychological disorders, but still has the gall to claim that it is not the enemy of the people.
The victims’ symptoms will vanish if they lay off the democrat propaganda.
My God, don’t the snowflakes know it’s summer. They are all gonna melt.
But, no one ever knew except for a few family members to whom I told not to tell me if you voted for him because you will not like my told you so speeches as he wreaks his destruction.
I did not melt
I educated. Politely.
And nobody could tell the difference.
She says these patients feel on edge about how potentially dire the president's decisions could be.
Are these people so simple-minded that they don't know that the decisions of ALL presidents, including Obama, could have dire consequences? It comes with the job being the leader of the free world.
These people are surely democRATS so they're nut cases to begin with. Going hysterical over the Trump presidency is just another reason they're lives are even more f*d up.
I had the obama version but it didn’t stop my life and I did not treat people badly and rude like the Trump haters do.
Correct. TAD implies that Trump is responsible for the anxiety. Derangement correctly identifies the sufferer for believing falsehoods.
Yes, but in PC talk, we can’t say someone is “deranged” :- )
Though not an official diagnosis, the symptoms include:
1. feeling a loss of control and helplessness,
2. fretting about what’s happening in the country, and
3. spending excessive time on social media
. . . she said.

Gee, numbers 2 and 3 apply to many of us FReepers, I’d say! But maybe instead of Trump Anxiety Disorder, for us it’s Trump Anticipation Disorder.
