Police Detective retired at age 41 with 21 years of service.

Now driving an armored Bentley with a Rolex on his wrist...

Being a NYPD officer must pay very well indeed...

Does he have to wait until 63 or whatever before he can collect his pension? I’m guessing not. Probably has to work part-time jobs. I’m guessing he isn’t working down at Home Depot though.

Retired cops get a 2nd amendment. The serfs who pay their pension don’t...

I would hope a police officer with 21 years of experience would be able to give a better description of the perp.

Probably. The gunfight happened about 3:30 a.m.

It appears that he left the P.D. under a cloud, as he was kicked out of the terrorism task force two years before he retired.

He has only been retired five years. His Linkedin site lists him as being in the Greater New York City Area.

Maybe he is just a very frugal person, got the armored Bentley as a great deal on a auction site, was given the Rolex by appreciative colleagues.

That may be the real crime here. Having said that, depending on his experiences and credentials earned at NYPD, he may have moved onto a lucrative private security career.

They can collect a pension in their forties-—after 20 years service.

Do they not allow their officers any range time? Seems like all of these NYPD shootouts that no one actually gets shot but alot of lead sure flies around...

I’m sure that the stress and danger for a cop in NYC is much more than in my quiet suburban town. But how do you figure out the extra compensation? I guess the old supply and demand would figure that out. Although I imagine that the police union won’t let that happen.

Just like the article awhile ago about the guys working at the docks in Seattle. Salary is about $165,000 a year, and benefits were another $120,000 a year iirc. I imagine if it was just supply and demand, working on the docks you could get lots of workers at $80,000 or less a year.

His house is paid off too.
Aren’t guns illegal in NYC? Is he in jail? Why not?

I get it. My point was that the 2A is spat on in NYC and your average Tom, Dick, and Harry don’t get the same rights.

A retired NYPD detective sitting in a Bentley with bulletproof glass and wearing a Rolex.

And they wonder why the tax payers are being choked off and economically gang banged.
