In the video it's explained the average pay for a truck driver, after going through the school, is about 45k.

Yes, but probably difficult to fill since pot is legal in many states. How many potential drivers are banned, rightfully so, for their drug usage?

“In the video it’s explained the average pay for a truck driver, after going through the school, is about 45k.”

make it 100K and there won’t be a shortage ...

Just cut out the antiquated practice of “busing”, then it will resolve itself.

A trucker today is a paperwork pusher for the government who happens to drive a truck.

I’d guess after all the taxes 45k comes to about 28k...

And they wonder why there is a shortage?

How many people would fail if traces of the drug alcohol stayed in your system for weeks or longer after use?

As soon as you have some experience and a track record that pay goes up well. I know truckers who have made $100k+. If you build a good record you haul expensive loads, hazardous material, etc. If you suck, you drive gravel (You can’t hurt it. Pick it up with another truck and off it goes.) In the old days everyone got a starter job and “worked their way up”.

Don’t hear it much these days.

Just spent about 4 hours on I-70 over the last 3 days. Many trucks from various companies. had signs “looking for drivers” on the back doors.

And that is a big difference, alcohol flushes out of your system, but there is no similar experience with pot.

My daughter had a business taking care of that paperwork for drivers. Drivers hate paperwork and screw it up all the time. She now works captive for a trucking company doing the same thing.

Water flushes pot out fast enough to pass a pee test within a week, if you work at it. Most companies random pee test as it’s cheap. They catch most users eventually due to the random, but not necessarily right away. Cheaters always thing they can pull it off, and if they don’t smoke too often and follow the water regimen they can go a while.

Daily smokers are caught quickly.

Maybe not as many as you would think but I do get your point. If people knew they would be tested and they knew the above, drinkers would avoid the jobs that require testing. There are plenty of jobs and plenty of independent contractor work that doesn’t require testing.

The question does not need to be answered, because it does flush out of their system. If they show up to work with alcohol in their system, or they have an accident with alcohol in their system, they are fired, prosecuted, and hopefully jail. Pot is entirely different. It is still illegal federally. No company in their right mind would hire a pot user and put them in a situation that could hurt or injure someone. A pot user lying about it, hopefully will be caught with the drug test.

The question does not need to be answered

It does and you evaded the question twice. Lemme help ya with the question below.

"How many people would fail if traces of the drug alcohol stayed in your system for weeks or longer after use?"

Answer: There would be millions who would not qualify for jobs and or would be fired within weeks if like pot, alcohol traces stay in their system for many days/weeks.

See simple.☺

the pay can be incredibly, astronomically high....

but i think the problem recruiting may be... that people are concerned about self-driving vehicles (or drone deliveries?)

I personally can’t see big semis barrelling along the highways without trained drivers behind the wheels

but there’s been a ton of pulicity about it coming soon...
so maybe people are taking other kinds of jobs instead?

I had to take a hair test before I got hired. Hair goes back much longer than pee.

Ya know whats ironic, in the U.S., those in the most sensitive critical positions which could affect every single person in the country, are not randomly tested.☺
