The Turkish lira has collapsed to an all-time low against the dollar, but the country's leader has brushed aside concerns, telling Turks "we have our God." The Turkish President Recep Erdogan then followed those comments up Friday by urging Turks to sell dollars and gold and buy lira.
At around 8:00 a.m. ET Friday, the lira had fallen to $7.081, an almost 11 percent loss for the session. It has since pared some losses. As recently as April one dollar bought about four Turkish lira.

When currencies collapse, vultures with few dollars of hard currency descend and pick the carcass of anything of value. The French will be outraged because the Saudis will buy much cheaper Turkish wheat rather than French grain to feed themselves and Egypt. Anyone with a little real cash can buy whatever Turkey has on the cheap.
In my 53 years of life...The French have always been difficult and a silly bunch of people.

I count some Turks among my friends. Unfortunately what Ergodan said DOES resonate with Turks. They are willing to bear almost any burden or battle, so long as they see it as “us against them”. Nationalistic pride is massive in Turkey, but used to be strictly secular. The big fear is that Erdogan has successfully merged that pride into an Islamofascist mode.
If the Turkish economy really collapses, the Saudis will be there buying Turkish women for their harems.
