Russian premier Medvedev warns U.S. against crossing red line on sanctions

Moscow issued a stern warning to the US on Friday against ramping up sanctions against Russia, saying the Kremlin will retaliate with economic, political and unspecified “other” measures.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s warning reflects Russian fears over the impact of new restrictions on its economy and assets, including the ruble, which has lost nearly 6 percent of its value this week on sanctions jitters, according to Reuters.

In a sign of how seriously Russia is taking the threat, strongman Vladimir Putin discussed what the Kremlin called “possible new unfriendly steps by Washington” with members of his Security Council.

They said the new sanctions were “absolutely illegal” under international law, the TASS news agency quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying.

“There was a discussion of new unfriendly steps on the part of Washington, which may take the form of trade restrictions,” Peskov said.

On Wednesday, the US State Department said Washington determined that Moscow had used a nerve agent to poison ex-Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in the British city of Salisbury and that sanctions would follow later this month.

Russia has strongly denied involvement in the poisoning.

[Putin] Tell Mr. Trump I can be more flexible after the election.

[Pompeo] I will relay this information to Mr. Trump.

You don’t understand this is a goof where Trump sanctions Russia and they pretend to be angry about the economic damage to hide the fact that Trump is working for them.

Their cooperation with North Korea and Iran for starters
Also with Afghanistan the taliban and Pakistan where they have become negotiators

Intelligence cooperation around the world- they know stuff

Less incentive for Russia to strengthen its ties with China if shunned by the West

Maybe we dont want them as friends but it costs us trillions to keep them as enemies

Cross that red line and we’re going to whip out Hillary’s reset button!

Russia. Dumped its US Treasuries reserve holdings, bought gold (down 6% ytd vs USD). Why? Because at least the gold can be converted to physical and stolen by the kleptocrats. Treasuries in numbered accounts leave digital breadcrumbs through the forest.

This is madness.

The US and UK owe their people a detailed account of the evidence against Russia for the London chemical attack.

Otherwise we are provoking a nuclear power, and a sovereign state, without just cause or the total support of the population.

Russia can cause us so many problems in the world, it would dwarf the cost to them in sanctions.

We need to be right on this.

And I don’t trust any US institution, or other country to get it right without sever, public scrutiny.
