Twitter says InfoWars account will remain online despite violating its rules

A Twitter spokesman says several posts by InfoWars host Alex Jones flagged by CNN violated the site's content policy, but say just two of them are recent enough for action to be taken against the right-wing host.

The spokesman told CNN on Friday that seven posts out of more than a dozen reported by CNN in an article Thursday violated the site's content policy, with some messages including degrading messages about religious groups or gender identities while others spread conspiracy theories about the Parkland shooting.

Just two of the posts, however, were recent enough for the company to take future action against Jones's account, the spokesman told CNN. The statement however comes in the face of an earlier claim from a Twitter executive to the news network that such messages that "violated our policies" had not occurred, arguing that "we would have taken action" to delete them.

"We will continue to review any content that is flagged to us and take action as appropriate," the Twitter spokesperson said Friday, according to CNN.

The posts were deleted less than an hour after CNN's article went live Thursday afternoon, with Jones stating Friday on his program that he had instructed staff to "take the super high road" and delete the messages.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey explained on the platform earlier this week his company's decision to keep Jones on the site despite his removal from other platforms including YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.

“We didn’t suspend Alex Jones or Infowars yesterday,” Dorsey wrote on Wednesday. “We know that’s hard for many but the reason is simple: He hasn’t violated our rules. We’ll enforce if he does. And we’ll continue to promote a healthy conversational environment by ensuring tweets aren’t artificially amplified.”

Jones, known for pushing right-wing conspiracy theories against Democrats and left-leaning political groups, vocally supported President Trump during the 2016 election and interviewed Trump during his run for office.

This is part of the problem. FLAGGING.

When FLAGGING is determined by groups, like Media Matters, that monitor people they disapprove of FLAGGING becomes a organized lynch mob.

Why is CNN not pushing for the super racist Sarah Jeong, currently of the New York Times editorial board to be banned from Twitter?

Although CNN hates to admit it, InfoWars is their competitor and is beating them soundly by almost every metric there is. (CNN does get played on more airport TVs than InfoWars).

I don’t see how CNN’s incessant pressure to have InfoWars banned from every possible outlet could not be considered tortious interference (intentional interference with contractual relationships causing economic harm.)

Likely because of an organized flagging group.

That’s probably true. Infowars probably has more followers than CNN has viewers for any of their best shows.

Funny thing is, I never really bothered much with Infowars before. Now I visit their website everyday. Thanks CNN.

Bigotry against Evil Whites is treated as being perfectly fine, because Evil Whites spend all of their time oppressing everyone else, so Evil Whites deserve all bad things.

The first article I read about Sarah Jeong had a title like NYT Stands By Writer Who Made Racial Remarks.

The title made it a given that the writer was not White and that the targets of her vitriol were White.

Liberal digital lynch mobs already engage in organized brigading, where one person says “Here, get them” and a thousand friends join in the pile on.
This has been a problem on Reddit for years, and liberals do it on Twitter, too.
