Holy God,
What worth is life without You? What purpose would our lives serve if we did not know You? What would be our reason for living? O Lord, You make all things new and You bring order and substance, purpose and meaning to all of our lives. Your Word tells us that You know the plans You have for us and that they are plans to prosper us and give us a hope and a future. Help us, Lord, to seek those wonderful plans so that we may live out Your purposes for us.
Father, thank You for a President who continues to keep his promises. We pray that You would help him to become a man after Your own heart. Guide him in every decision he makes, and set a watch over his lips so he does not sin against You. Show him how to respond to every challenge, every insult, and every victory in ways that honor and glorify You.
As we think about our military men and women today, we recognize that all things that they need are found in You. Without You they are weak, but with You they are strong. Without You they lack understanding, but with Your wisdom, they have the mind of Christ. Without You they have no courage, but with You they can proceed without fear. With You they can do all things through Jesus Christ Who strengthens them. Father, we know that You are the God who equips us to do what we have been called to do. We ask You to keep our troops in the shadow of Your wings.
Bless Your people Israel, Lord, and help us always to pray for them. Make their borders secure and help them to be ready to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Lord, we ask that You help our nation to be a blessing and a defender of Your people everywhere.
Lord, without You it is impossible to find peace in this world. With You, we can enter that special secret place of the Most High and abide in Your shadow, Almighty God. Thank You that Jesus died on the Cross to bring us peace. May it abide in us always, no matter what is happening in this nation or in this world. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

20 Can wicked rulers be allied with you,
those who contrive mischief by statute?
21 They band together against the life of the righteous,
and condemn the innocent to death.
22 But the Lord has become my stronghold,
and my God the rock of my refuge.
23 He will repay them for their iniquity
and wipe them out for their wickedness;
the Lord our God will wipe them out.
