Impeachment of Trump has nothing to do with the Democrats.
The plan always was (and probably still is) for Mueller to give Ryan a fig leaf that would be enough for him to wrangle the 25 GOP votes needed to send charges to the Senate.
McConnell only needs 19 GOP Senators to convict, and I bet he has 30.
Rightly or wrongly, people needed to be convinced that Trump was thoroughly vetted of election fraud.
If Trump had gone immediately into attacking Hillary and the gang of thieves and traitors, the Dems and half the country could claim that Trump was politicizing his Presidency.
But now that we find out that Trump has been unjustly accused, the public is ready to accept what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
Lindsey Graham was part of the Trump scheme to let Mueller go forward. And now he is one of the ones defending Trump as we now go after the evil ones.

I don’t know, he seems to be kicking butt. His agenda is moving at a faster pace than any POTUS in my 66 years. The deregulation, the trade deals, the tax cut, federal judge appointments.... I’ve never seen anything like it.
Meanwhile, instead of pushing back against his agenda, he has them believing they are on the verge of impeaching him.
I wonder sometimes if this Mueller witch hunt was his idea - he sure doesn’t lift a finger to end it.

1. If the Dems take control of The House and impeach Trump, they will never get the two thirds vote needed in the Senate to remove Trump from office.
In fact given how much the country is split at the moment, I don’t think any party is going to get a two thirds majority in the US Senate for a very long time to come.
They think their personal situations will be better with President Pence (and, BTW, which side is he on?) - but their cynical failure to back MAGA puts their majorities at risk.
