Kurdish fighters vow to resist regime's crackdown as groups search for more united strategy amid sanctions on Tehran.

The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Sunday that they had killed “10 militants” in the Kurdish region of Iran. The same day the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) said they had engaged in “heavy clashes” with the IRGC near the city of Oshnavieh and had killed 12 “IRGC terrorists.”

The battles come amidst a rise in tensions in Iran with US sanctions kicking in and after six months of protests in various parts of the country, including the Kurdish region. Sensing the regime is strained and the Kurdish groups are now trying to carry out more public attacks on Iran’s IRGC.

Detailed article about current situation inside Iran. The ongoing conflict between 4 Kurdish forces and the IRGC. And remember even the major cities are having other conflicts.

For those who watched the revolt that was brutally put down in 2009, the public in Iran are more motivated to succeed now.

There are a number of explanatory links in the source article.

Talking about Karma.

It is coming home to Iran.

Trump should place a no fly zone and air drop weapons.

Yep. Timing is everything.

I don’t think this one will be like 2009.

IRGC is experienced and we’ll equiped. Motivation of Iranians who are battling them is stronger than ever.

I certainly wish them good luck and call us when it is over. I want no war with Iran. Zero.

Very interesting article. Kurds and Iran have gotten along... well, at least compared to certain other neighbors.

Currency war is a very effective way for US to influence the ME right now. Certainly helping the Kurds a lot.

Of all the Muslim groups involved in the mess in Syria , Iraq and Iran, IMHO the Kurds are the most heretical Muslim group and therefore the group we can help out.

Kurds seem to make poor examples of Muslims and prone to secularism and cooperating with us Kafirs. - Tom

The Iranian Government reported that they recovered a surprising amount of weaponry, when they raided this KDP-affiliated group inside Iran.

My guess is that the three Kurdish groups mentioned in the article, including PKK-affiliated PJAK, standalone PAK (but no mention of PUK), are participating in a coordinated takedown of the Iranian regime, which is still building up toward the phase of decisive operations.

The Kurdish areas have only one of several restive minorities that are itching to see regime change (Arabs, Azeris, etc.). Others are probably receiving and distributing weapons as well.

IRGC can’t handle dozens of of distributed large riots and insurrections at the same time, and a lot of people know it. A bunch of their security folks are already planning how and where they will run and hide, when it looks really bad for the regime.

In other cases, groups are hovering like vultures, ready to seize areas or assets when the regime cracks.

I hope we’re helping to buy some of this weaponry, because my sense is that the Kurds are operating on a shoestring.

Kurds have been treated harshly by Mullah’s an the IRGC. One of the Iranian Kurd groups has had some coordination with Iran.

The Mullah’s are not friends of Kurds.

Don’t know, but doubt it. The Syrian Kurds have used Konkors (Russian design, Bulgarian sourced). They were very effective in taking out Turkey’s German made tanks. Have seen many video’s of their use.

I don’t think the Persian’s want us to fight their war.

Supply weapons? There are lots of sources.

Nobody in the ME has any friends.
Iran and the Kurds have had a common enemy in the Arab terroists for quite a while though. Kept them being ‘nice’ to each other. Seems like that’s over.
Syria may be going for Idlib real soon. If so, then Afrin will be a battlefield again soon too. What a hell...

Yep, the German Leopard tanks used by Turkey in Syria seem to have a glass jaw.

An impression of mine and I don’t mean this as a fact is that the Turkish army is pretty sloppy in using their armor. It seems to be like mobile artillery on the front line with poor concealment and infantry support. Sort of like hanging a shoot me sign on the tank with a bulls eye drawn on it.
