Shortened title.

Full title: A Power Company Is Suing New York After The State Shut Down A Nearly $1 Billion Plant Without Warning

Competitive Power Ventures (CPV) is suing New York after the state refused to renew an air permit for one of the company’s natural gas power plants, shutting down the plant four days before it was scheduled to open.

CPV filed the suit against the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) challenging the state’s decision to not renew the $900 million plant’s air permit in an Aug. 1 letter, according to the American Petroleum Institute (API).

“Only in Gov. [Andrew] Cuomo’s New York would a state-of-the-art project that will reduce emissions, keep energy affordable, and deliver reliable electricity to New York consumers face countless, arbitrary delays,” API New York Executive director Karen Moreau said in a statement. “[CPV’s] natural gas plant is critical to ensuring that schools, businesses, hospitals and homes have access to affordable, reliable electricity especially during extreme weather conditions like the polar vortex that we all experienced this past winter.”

New York residents pay some of the highest energy prices in the U.S., largely due to environmental policies that restrict the supply of fossil fuels to the region. A May report by the Consumer Energy Alliance found that New Yorkers paid 44 percent more than the national average for energy in 2017, despite the state neighboring the natural gas-rich state of Pennsylvania.

High electricity costs are one reason why Albany has to bribe...er, incentivize businesses to stay or site here.

I hate this state and city.

The worst part would be leaving friends and family behind.

There are only two reasons for a license or permit: control and revenue. New York just exercised one of those options and I hope they pay dearly for it. All that investment capital is gone and investors should be outraged.

Hopefully a lesson for any remaining “capitalist” ventures looking to do business in the Peoples Republic of NY. NY welcomes Billionaire/Globalist self declared “socialists”, but regular ol’ Capitalism? A big F.U. from N.Y. I guess they want some silicon valley type “businesses”. Maybe Bezos will throw a few billion into NY. He won’t need electricity, just the Sun and wind.

Cuomo is playing election-year politics and optics. Stupid leftists here in New York cheer every step back to primitiveness, or cost increase, with glee.

Keep telling yourself too we live in a free-market and rule-of-law society, too.

I’m wondering how in the world someone thought it was worthwhile to build not just one but three solar power installations near Rochester, of all places. Panels covered by snow 7 months out of the year ain’t going to generate squat.

Yet many of the richest NYCers are liberal hypocrits always pulling strings of DNC and MSM living in mammoth energy sucking multi million dollar digs.

One would think that the serfs in New York would understand that they are ruled by communists.

The mid-atlantic gas producers should reduce supplies to NY, let them buy LNG from the Russians.

"New York residents pay some of the highest energy prices
in the U.S., largely due to environmental policies
that restrict the supply of fossil fuels to the region."

But according to Gov. Cuomo the energy is "affordable."
His environmental policies are keeping it affordable.
It must be "affordable" since New Yorkers are paying their bills.
They might be getting financially gouged every
month in the name of clean energy, but they're getting their electricity.

When will the rolling brownouts occur?
New Yorkers, keep voting for Democrat lunatics.
You will deserve the results of the choices you make.

***shutting down the plant four days before it was scheduled to open. ***

Do they mean they shut it down before STARTUP, the proper term.
