“One would think that the serfs in New York would understand that they are ruled by communists.”

No, that would imply a measure of reality awareness on the part of metropolitan NY’ers. What they “understand” is that the Totalitarian, Socialist Globalist elite are the only ones who can save them, and that the Capitalist Free Market Right are the personification of evil. They shall reap what they sow, and flames will engulf their cities soon enough. Only then can they have their social justice...... at least for their beloved victim classes. Their elite will of course jet to their Island redoubts and bask in their victory in unabashed luxury.

Shutting down all facilities for maintenance would be a fun catharsis moment for them - but I’m guessing they have numerous contracts requiring them to provide certain amount of power to various entities which would require them to purchase power on the open market. They’d pay dearly on the front end and if unable to provide contracted amounts of electricity they might have to pay penalties or fines on the back side of things. Welcome to government regulation, red tape and arbitrary application of the same.

No explanations at the Daily Caller website, other than this rather cryptic paragraph quoting the NY officials:

New York denied the renewal because the permit did not meet new regulatory standards for the size of the plant.

“Specifically, revisions of the applicable regulations now require a Clean Air Act Title V permit to operate this type of facility. And this facility has not submitted an application for nor has been granted this type of permit,” DEC spokeswoman Erica Ringewald told WAMC Northeast. “Facilities of this size and nature must be subject to the most rigorous air pollution controls to ensure the public is protected. And Title V permits provide for greater transparency and community input prior to authorization.”

Sounds like they re-wrote the scope of the law after the plant was built.

Ha... that’s what my wife said when she left and moved to ‘Bama with me. Now you couldn’t get her to go back for any other reason other than to visit her mom for a week. She loves it down here. Beaches, we have a pool and we love our friends. Really good folks down here.

Others side of the coin:

In a letter to CPV, DEC Regional Director Kelly Turturro wrote that the company was required to submit a complete application and obtain a federal Clean Air Act permit prior to operation of the facility. She wrote that CPV has not submitted an application for a permit nor has a permit been issues as required.

Other side of the coin my foot! Cuomo ok'ed this then lefty nutjobs applied pressure. This is a political game.

November 19, 2017
Recently, FERC overruled the state, which refused to approve the gas line, contending insufficient information was provided. A judge has issued a temporary stay on the construction.

At Saturday’s rally, Malick urged Governor Andrew Cuomo to “following in his father’s footsteps” and permanently keep CPV from opening its power plant. When Mario Cuomo was governor, he refused to allow the Shoreham nuclear power plant to open because of large scale local opposition.

DEC denies permits for Millennium pipeline to power CPV plant

ALBANY – The State Department of Environmental Conservation has conditionally denied water quality permits for Millennium’s proposed 7.8-mile Valley Lateral pipeline project.

That 16-inch pipeline is meant to power the CPV electric generating plant under construction in the Town of Wawayanda.

The DEC said the conditional denial “is based in part on the inadequacy of the environmental review conducted by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), which failed to account for downstream greenhouse gas emissions.”

WAWAYANDA – Six people were arrested by State Police for disorderly conduct Friday morning when they blocked the construction entrance site to the Competitive Power Ventures in Wawayanda on Friday morning.

When completed, the facility will generate electricity through the use of natural gas from Pennsylvania.

The protestors were arrested for blocking the entrance to the site by way of interconnected bike locks around their necks. Margaret Shaw, Pramilla Mullock and actor James Cromwell were among those taken into police custody, along with several others who did not participate in the "chaining up" demonstration.

I hate this state and city.

So did I. I left in 2000.

The worst part would be leaving friends and family behind.

I got new friends, and stayed in touch with old ones and family.

Cuomo’s longtime associate Joseph Percoco was convicted of Federal charges of bribery, etc. in conjunction with CPV permitting for construction of the power plant and it’s NG spur pipeline.
