Ninth Circuit Returns to Form, Upholds Bizarre California Gun Regulation(Micro stamp)

Here are the basic facts. California’s Unsafe Handgun Act requires new handguns sold in the state to have three key safety features. First, new guns must have an indicator that shows when a round is loaded in the weapon’s chamber. Second, new guns must have a magazine-detachment mechanism that prevents the gun from discharging when a magazine is not in it. Finally, the third provision “requires new handguns to stamp microscopically the handgun’s make, model, and serial number onto each fired shell casing.”

Yuh, okay. Because the bad guys are NOT bright enough to use a REVOLVER and dump the casings at the scene. Back to the usual 9th circus antics.

Its LOOOOOONG past time SCOTUS took up this case.

If a state can get away with passing a law that is literally impossible to comply with in order to deny people the ability to exercise their constitutional rights, then those constitutional rights are meaningless.

On top of that, generally a firing pin is one of the simplest parts in a firearm to make and replace... assuming that merely sanding the microstamop off would shorten the original pin enough to cause misfires.

“...new guns must have an indicator that shows when a round is loaded in the weapon’s chamber....”

This is insane. The NRA should get on this. I doubt that makers will even comply with this. Deliberate attempt at denying new gun purchases/ownership.

Not even....change the firing pin, barrel, ejector, etc.

Anything that has said “microstamp” could easily be changed out with unmarked service parts.

Well, I believe that is the point of a lot of the anti-gun assclowns are trying to make is that the states CAN pass laws outside the BOR. But they haven’t confirmed me to the Supreme Court yet.

What would stop anyone from replacing the firing pin with one sans headstamp, assuming that model existed before the law was enacted, which would be the case most of the time?

They should add in 25 lbs trigger pull, bio-optic retinal scan to fire, maximum magazine capacity of 2, trigger depression timer of 1 minute to limit speed of shots fired. Because, why not?

I see a new business opportunity of re-marked firing pins to point to someone else.

Pretty sure that is the liberal plan/end goal.

That was kind of my point.
Even if you couldn’t purchase a ‘clean’ pin, most of them can be easily duplicated by someone with a file, a piece of rod stock and patience and no training as a machinist. A home shop hobbyist with a lathe could turn them out by the thousands.

Criminal picks up brass.

Then drops other brass he acquired at public shooting range.

Swat kills law abiding gun owner's grade school son holding Nerf gun in 3:30 Am No Knock raid.

Criminal nearly dies laughing, but survives with County Government taxpayer supplied Ambulance and Emergency Room care.

“a law that is literally impossible to comply with”

That’s the idea. They can’t out and out ban them so they think they can nickel and dime laws into place that will eventually end in the same result. Someone needs to remind them.....once again of what “Shall Not Be infringed Upon” means.

Remember - these are the same congressmen that wanted to make buckets with holes in them so kids wouldn’t drown.
These are the same congressmen that wanted to redefine pi as 3 to make it easier for kids to understand.
