Newt Gingrich: Democrats have no idea what demons they are unleashing
Fox News ^ | 8/18/2018 | Newt Gingrich

Posted on 08/18/2018 6:14:47 AM PDT by grayboots

A few weeks ago, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) wrote an article for Vox explaining the movement’s goals – to end capitalism and radically change America.

In normal times, the declarations of a fringe party and ideology in America would not merit much attention. However, these are not normal times. A new Gallup poll shows that 57 percent of Democrats have a favorable view of socialism – while only 47 percent view capitalism positively.

This pattern has been building for a while. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont took socialism mainstream in the party during the 2016 Democratic presidential primaries. Since then, Democratic Party candidates have been increasingly attaching themselves to the ideology.

Most notably, a telegenic young member of the Democratic Socialists of America named Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated a senior Democrat in New York City’s 14th Congressional District and has since been on a whirlwind media tour, spreading the gospel of socialism.

It is up to those of us who know better to convince Americans of socialism’s folly.

Socialism – effects:

economics & politics:

universal wage and price controls
increases in quantity demanded
decreases in quantity and quality of supply
shortages
rationing
hoarding
endless waiting lines
massive black markets
failure of centralized planning and bureaucratic management
anarchy of production
socialist quota system
technological backwardness
economic chaos in distribution and production
decreased or paralyzed individual initiative to make improvements
economic stagnation, decline, and decay followed by increased poverty and economic collapse
increased exploitation and powerlessness of the massas
tyranny, forced labor, terror, and mass murder
aristocratic privilege and elitist court society for leaders and their favorites

morality:

- It is a fact of reality that socialism and statism require force, and therefore, are incompatible with individual rights
- it is a fact of reality that socialism and statism are harmful to life,
- therefore, socialism and statism are an objectively anti-life, and are immoral.

For a long time, the US government had various relationships with all the major tech companies.
One big relationship is the PRISM program, wherein the government is allowed to vacuum up
data from lots of social media databases.

Some questions that could use answers:

<><>1) How many tax dollars do social media companies suck-up from giving government agencies access to their data?

<><> 2) How much influence does this give US govt agencies over the policies of the social media company?

<><> 3) Has the Deep State been using its influence for political purposes?

<><> Has the Deep State used its power to (a) oppose certain voices, and, (b) to support other voices in the social media environment?

It’s an interesting thing about people who love socialism - they lack rationality. If you comment on the Guardian that if you like the DMV, you’ll love socialism. You’d be surprised how many people write back that they love and admire the DMV as well as the post office.

Misdirected energy.

Ocasio-Cortez didn’t win because she is a socialist.

She won because Crowley is white.

“have no idea”

I don’t think they care as long as they benefit from it.
Because they are ALL self serving hypocrite phonies.

Ocasio-Cortez didn’t win because she is a socialist. She won because Crowley is white.

And because Crowley grew complacent and did not fight.

You may wonder how Socialism persists with all those ills. The problem is you have a large core of lazy ignorant people who, no matter how bad things get, will feel things will be worse if they have to WORK HARD again. They are the Free Stuff Army (FSA) who will be bought off by getting something for nothing or nearly so. Even the loss of electricity, food and water might not dissuade them.

Erdogan, the leader of Turkey said, “Democracy is like a bus you ride to the destination you want and then get off.”

That about sums up Democratic socialism too. Once you have it, there’s no going back without lots of bloodshed. Like any war, it’s better to solve the problem before the war starts than to rely on winning the war. You may win, but the cost is always higher than anyone expects.

I’m sure the left won’t go too far and cause reactionary movements to form in opposition to them. That totally never happens.

As an econ major, she either slept through her classes or never got the degree in the first place. Her statements imply that gov't tax policy is impact-neutral. That is, gov't tax policies have no effect on economic activity or growth. Given that stance, I'd like to see her explain the huge jump in economic activity, lower unemployment rates despite increased labor force participation rates which occurred as soon as the repressive economic policies of Obama were peeled back.

"The rich need to pay their fair share." I agree, but since the top 10% of income earners in the US foot 72% of total tax receipts, I'd argue for tax cuts on the rich. Like it or not, they provide jobs which leads to economic growth. And here's the part liberals miss: If the pie is growing at 4% per year, even if your share of that pie doesn't change, you disposable income is also rising. Cut taxes, and it rises even more.

"But that creates a deficit!" No...spending creates a deficit. Buffet proposed a simple solution to the "elect-me" spending Congress engages in: Anyone in Congress who votes for a budget that increases the deficit by 3% or more, cannot run for reelection. You'd see the Free-Cell-Phones-for-Deadbeats program die in a heartbeat.

Cortex is a very, very, bad joke.

only 47 percent view capitalism positively

Well then, the Democratic party should go full socialist, and with some good campaigning by the GOP [whoops, I see the problem here] we should be able to get at least half that 47% for our side. The dems lose everything, except SF, some boroughs in NY, Santa Cruz, and Austin.
