Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey: I 'fully admit' our bias is 'more left-leaning'
The Hill ^ | 08/18/18 | John Bowden

Posted on 08/18/2018 4:56:24 PM PDT by yesthatjallen

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said on Saturday that he "fully admit[s]" Twitter employees share a largely left-leaning bias after facing accusations that conservatives are discriminated against on the social media platform.

In an interview that aired Saturday on CNN, Dorsey said his company has a responsibility to be open about its political viewpoints, but to operate without bias when applying content policies to users.

"We need to constantly show that we are not adding our own bias, which I fully admit is...is more left-leaning," Dorsey says.

"But the real question behind the question is, are we doing something according to political ideology or viewpoints? And we are not. Period," he added.

Dorsey went on to insist that his company only polices behavior on the platform, not content.

Dorsey's remarks follow criticism from the right over supposed "shadow-banning" of conservatives users. The platform and Dorsey have also faced questions over the decision not to remove far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones from the platform, despite other social media platforms choosing to do so.

The Twitter CEO said in an interview with The Hill this week that Jones was banned after he received complaints that Jones's content was inciting violence.

“We were getting a number of reports around the tweet and the Periscope that the content was inciting violence, which is against our terms of service, and we took action,” Dorsey said.

The InfoWars host received a week-long ban from the platform, but has been removed from other services including YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.

Dorsey is expected to testify next month before the Senate Intelligence Committee on the issue of Russian election interference, and faces a possible subpoena from the House Energy and Commerce Committee over allegations of discrimination against conservatives on the platform.

Gee Jack, we never would have guessed.

Aren’t there any conservative hackers who can teach them a lesson?

Sadly it appears the most talented are commies.

Perhaps I’m wrong...this is war, so gloves off.

Complaints from which groups? Many more conservatives have been attacked than liberals... which liberal Twitter sites have been banned? Why are Jeong’s tweets still up?

Here's a novel idea, Jack. How about just banning the stuff that's illegal. It would make it a helluva lot easier.

Doncha think?

I have no idea why we even care what Dorsey has to say... He has been out of the Twitter control authority for quite a while now... There are much bigger fish in control now and this is concept is to distract from them...

Donald Trump at least can use Twitter freely I assume, but you know what it means to “assume”.

It’s going to succeed like Detroit, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and every other leftist city.

That is a bunch of malarkey. If this censorship was not due to political ideology we would have seen roughly an equal number of leftists censored as rightists. That is not the case. I don't know the statistics, but I'd hazard a guess that the censorship runs 99% against conservatives.

hey Dorsey - how about banning the FakeNewsMSM:

UPDATED: Breitbart: Rap Sheet: ***555** Acts of Media-Approved Violence and Harassment Against Trump Supporters
by John Nolte
It is open season on Trump supporters, and the media is only fomenting, encouraging, excusing, and hoping for more…
https://www.breitbart.com/big-journalism/2018/07/05/rap-sheet-acts-of-media-approved-violence-and-harassment-against-trump-supporters/

FakeNewsMSM & social media colluded to try to get Hillary Clinton elected (Podesta emails/IG report of “reporters” collusion with FBI)

YET

the official narrative from the FakeNewsMSM is social media helped Russia interfere to try to elect Donald Trump!

who will investigate the FakeNewsMSM and social media’s interference in the 2016 election to try to elect Clinton?

haven’t seen any interest from the RINOS to expose that can of worms.

Tell ya what, Jack!...take your tweeter and stick it.

I refuse to twit or tweet or what the hell ever it's supposed to be.

And for all the folks that post twits or tweets on FR...either do a screen shot or don't post it.

I refuse to join that bunch of liberal leftist scum bags, just to see what some dip-wad said about something...that truly, in the long run, means nothing anyway.

As far as POTUS and his tweets...I can find them all over the media...I sure as hell don't need to give Twatter my time and attention.

Re: 15

Agreed.
I cannot argue with your points that the MSM is clearly involved with election 'meddling', and that RINOs don't give two bits about Conservative voices being silenced (in fact, the RINOs support the suppression of Conservatives).

Is he channeling Peter Strozk? Entirely possible. They are egregious liars.

If there was bias in the decisions(there was) and Dorsey disagrees using bias in these decisions, why was no one fired?

This is huge. If he holds to it, this is a chink in the monolith of the left.

If we can get them on record, that they *should* be unbiased, we have won a great victory.

Then we can push to have them enforce it.
