Put the Option in Adoption for LGBT Couples (liberal posing as conservative)
Lone conservative ^ | August 19th 2018 | AMANDA KEMP

I think we can all agree that we want the brightest future for our children, especially children in the foster care system. The essence of being pro-life is preserving life of the innocent by all means necessary. By giving these children a chance at a good life, we need to support and cherish them through their development. One continuing conversation that arises is whether or not same-sex couples are fit to foster and adopt children; these extra examinations are often based on misconceptions and biases towards same-sex couples. This slows down the process of adoption, adding extra hurdles to the process, and delaying a child’s start in their new home.

There is a recorded 438,000 children in the foster care system at any given moment. According to LGBT Adoption Statistics, same-sex couples make up 21.20% of households who have adopted children in the United States. Comparatively, only 4.80% of opposite-sex couples have adopted children. The LGBT Adoption Statistics also includes that “more than 16,000 same-sex couples are raising an estimated 22,000 adopted children in the United States.” The pro-life community should look to these same-sex couples with appreciation that they’ve decided to step into adopt or foster these children, giving them an opportunity to have a conventional childhood.

If you are for small-government, then how can you justify certain individuals withholding the right to adopt from others? Regardless of what private religious organizations do, the government-run facilities should not regulate who is allowed to adopt children based on religious beliefs. Prospective parents, whether heterosexual or homosexual couples, are put through many tests and assessments in order to verify that the child is going to go to a good home. Each state has their own laws regarding LGBT adoption. To figure out what your state laws are you can visit: https://www.lifelongadoptions.com/lgbt-adoption-resources/lgbt-adoption-laws.

It is statistically proven that same-sex families prosper more within their jobs, and thus creates a favorable income. Having a comfortable income relieves marital stress, promotes better educational opportunities for their kids, allows them to take relaxing vacations regularly, etc. With a higher income, one parent has the opportunity to stay at home and be the caretaker, while the other is making money.

When more people are willing to accept the idea that being raised in a same-sex home is just as natural as growing up in a heterosexual home, then this misconception about two women or men raising a child being unfit will dissipate. No parent is going to be perfect. Penalizing same-sex couples and not allowing them to adopt or raise children due to their sexuality is not only outdated and prejudiced, but antithetical to the pro-life values and movement.

It is time to put the option in adoption for LGBT couples.

Last resort.
Only after any and all possibilities have been exhausted

...maybe.

I love liberals lecturing to us about family values.

Inclusiveness is all for the childrun.

Got it.

These same freaks have been successful in shutting down Catholic orphanages in Philly because they won’t deal kids out to pervs. They care nothing about children!

A lone conservative, huh?

I didn’t see that defense of same sex family adoptions coming.

He doesn’t speak for me.

Once you got same sex marriage legalized, the horse fled the barn.

You didn’t think they could be prevented from having kids, did you?

Ideas have consequences. Especially bad ideas.

He/she also congratulated Guy Benson on his same-sex marriage proposal on twitter.

Remember the story of the Oregon Lesbo’s driving their ‘kids’ over the cliff in Northern California? Swept under the rug by the lamestreams.

20% of a fraction of a percent of queeriages is much smaller number than 5% of 60+ million married hetero couple in US.
That’s counting unmarried couples as well.

One cannot use the term ‘innocent’ and then endorse same-sex adoption. Innocence will vanish quickly.

Is the author ACTUALLY suggesting that affluence trumps influence ie sentencing children to a life spent with a gay couple pretending to be capable of filling both mothering and fathering roles while being ill-equipped to handle either due to being the wrong sex or lacking (by their own admission and often proudly so) the qualities inherent in a heterosexual mother or father?

As usual, a do-gooder wants to solve problem B before problem A is solved. Let’s cut the red tape and get as many kids as possible placed in proper heterosexual two-parent homes before we resort to much riskier endeavors.

My daughter and son in law are alumni.... back when it wasn’t part of UGa. This author is too stupid to even know that the Dahlonega teams are known as nighthawks. Can’t manage to get through her article

She is supposedly the managing editor of this web site

I’m tired of the left treating children like puppies in a no-kill shelter. As if any home is better than no “home” at all.

I’ve yet to see one bit of evidence that suggests children fare better in same sex adoptive homes rather than foster care. These are often dysfunctional units and often attract pedophiles.

How about a federal law that mandates we spend the exact same dollar amount..to the penny...on adoption, as we spend on abortion?

She

And she writes poorly. She ignores the most recent studies that suggest children raised in same sex households don’t do well. They experience more depression higher rates of addiction. Higher rates of suicide attempts

But let’s not let science get in the way

I don’t get the stats listed.
Same sex couples make up 21% of households who have adopted?
And opposite sex couples only make up 4.5% of households who have adopted?
Not sure how that could be

When more people are willing to accept the idea that being raised in a same-sex home is just as natural as growing up in a heterosexual home

But it isn’t “just as natural” is it? Homosexuals by their very nature can’t have children, so growing up in a homosexual home isn’t natural at all—it’s...unnatural.

According to LGBT Adoption Statistics, same-sex couples make up 21.20% of households who have adopted children in the United States. Comparatively, only 4.80% of opposite-sex couples have adopted children.

There are lies, damn lies, and statistics.

Anyone else notice how these two disparate statistics are juxtaposed in order to create a false impression.

Only 4.8% of opposite-sex couples have adopted (the implication being that the remaining 95.2% of opposite-sex couples have not adopted). Sounds plausible. So far, so good.

Now, what would be the analogous statistic for same-sex couples? Answer: The percentage of same-sex couples who have adopted. But the article does not state this figure! Instead, it proffers a similar-sounding statistic, implying that it is the converse: The percentage of adopting couples who are same-sex (namely: 21.2%).

FURTHER, I would greatly doubt that, in actual fact, 21.2% of all adopting couples are same-sex. That figure is, in my opinion, ludicrously inflated. I simply refuse to believe that more than a fifth of all couples who adopt children are homosexual. SHOW ME THE RAW DATA!

Finally: How can an article argue in favor of allowing same-sex couples to adopt - the implication being that, under current regulations, that isn't possible - and then blithely cite statistics on the high percentage of adopting couples who are homosexual? Ridiculous! This is equivalent to saying: "Please let Methodists adopt orphaned children! It is unfair to prohibit Methodists from adopting! After all, so many Methodists already do adopt children!

Regards,
