President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee is walking into the middle of a political firestorm over his work for President George W. Bush.
Access to paperwork from Brett Kavanaugh’s years as a White House lawyer and staff secretary for Bush has become a lightning rod in the nomination fight.
The issue will take center stage as he sits down with Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, this week.
Both senators are expected to press Kavanaugh on whether he'll support releasing all of his Bush-era documents, which they say would shed light on what he thinks about controversial matters such as terrorism policy, healthcare and executive authority.
Schumer said he intends to ask Kavanaugh directly why he isn’t publicly calling for releasing the paperwork during their closed-door sit-down.
"He can't duck it. ... He should have said already that he wants them released if he's an open, fair, wonderful man, Supreme Court justice that he's trying to portray himself to be," Schumer told reporters during a weekly leadership press conference.
Kavanaugh’s meetings with Feinstein and Schumer—expected to take place on Monday and Tuesday, respectively—will mark his toughest stops, so far, on his Capitol Hill charm offensive.

Kav doesn’t ask for release because the request from asswipe Schumer is just a delaying tactic and the info isn’t relevant. Schumer is a disgusting unamerican political hack with zero credibility.

For the RATs staff to go over 3 to 4 million docs would take months and months.
What he 'thinks' doesn't matter if you see your role as seeking original intent, as opposed to legislating from the bench.

Because he records as a judge are more than enough.
His answers won’t matter to the lame stream media. “I will follow the constitution as written and not legislate from the bench.” will become “Sure I’ll help put blacks back in chains. And just for laughs I’ll gas a few Jews while I’m at it.”
McConnell has the votes for Kavanaugh to be approved. He needs to get with the program and get it done. Leave the far left kooks like Schumer sitting there pondering their genitals.
This is weak sauce from a party without anything more significant to latch onto. It's clear they got nothing.
The plan now is to create a reason for them not only to vote No on Kavanaugh but also give them reason to go to a federal judge (D) of course and have them require the govt to turn over the documents. That would where are the cowards in the Republican Party?? Right where we would expect hiding so they do not have to make a stand.
