The number of permits to carry concealed weapons in the U.S. has jumped to more than 17.25 million this year, according to the Crime Prevention Research Center.
Thats an increase of 890,000 since last year, according to the gun advocacy research group, which has found that the growth in permits has been continuous over the years.

Wow! This guy is a freaking genius!
You can figure that out of a normal day, you bumping into six hundred folks (the grocery, the gas station, work, neighbors, post office, etc), that at least 30 of them are carrying a weapon.
It would be curious to know the density of the population and if more who live in urban areas do it than rural areas.
CWII is here. You’re going to need CCW.
When CWII goes hot, ain’t nobody checking for permits.
Sounds good, doesn’t it?
Personally, I think it unfortunate that so many of us who believe in and seek to practice RKBA still think it’s a good idea to apply for, pay for, and carry a permission slip.
MY permit was issued in 1791. If I seem reluctant to use it, it is because my schedule is too full to permit unjustified arrest, unconstitutional charges, and deprivation of my right to liberty.
I hope to see Nationwide Constitutional Purchase and Carry, such as existed in many places as late as 1912* and now found, as far as I know, nowhere in the USA, restored in my lifetime.
I’m pretty sure I will never see full restoration of Constitutionally Protected— NOT “granted”— rights, to those who have completed sentences for past misbehavior and consequently set “at liberty”. Jean Valjean’s yellow passport will live decades longer.
*1912
If you’re in the mood for a long story of what it was like to live freely in the USA at one time, go ahead and ask.
Heck, in 1912 British and Russians could own any guns they wanted. Confiscation began after WWI.
“When CWII goes hot, aint nobody checking for permits.”
And if they try it would be the last thing they did.
People are sensing national reciprocity laws being passed if Trump can keep Congress this year. Besides, people also sense more crime with open borders, MS-13, news from Chicago, etc.
Here in Virginia, about one in twenty people have a permit. Drop minors and illegals, and that goes to about 1:16. Here in northern Virginia, there are a lot of government and private security personnel and retired military, so I’d figure it’s between 1:10-1:15, in spite of the fact that there are huge numbers of libs here.
That last bit, by the way, is a good thing to point out to my lib neighbors. They always get that deer-in-the-headlights look when I point out that one in ten men they meet every day is armed, and yet crime is pretty low here, with few public murders or robberies, especially compared with nearby DC and Maryland.
