Dane County officials declared a state of emergency Tuesday morning after rain overnight Monday broke a state record for heaviest amount to fall in a 24-hour period, according to Dane County Emergency Management.
The National Weather Service estimates that as much as 13 inches of rain has fallen in parts of western Dane County on Monday and Tuesday.
The official state record for rainfall in a 24-hour period is 11.72 inches of rain, which occurred northeast of Mellen in northern Wisconsin on June 24, 1946. The National Weather Service has received numerous reports of rainfall from western Dane County that have eclipsed that number. Meteorologists are working to verify the accuracy of these reports.
Wisconsin and Dane County officials will be conducting aerial surveillance over flood damaged parts Tuesday afternoon, according to a release. Officials are asking amateur drone operators to avoid flying in flooded areas while the assessment is being conducted.
Dane County officials declared a slow, no wake restriction on Lakes Mendota, Monona and Waubesa after rises levels rose significantly overnight.
Black Earth Creek is flooding and has hit a new record high flood stage, officials said.
Evacuations along the creek are underway in Black Earth, Cross Plains and Mazomanie, according to a release. Black Earth residents are going to Heights Lutheran Church, and Mazomanie and Cross Plain residents are going to their community's fire stations.

My family got off easy, we just had some water in the basement. And I had to dig a trench to move the water that was pooling against the house.
There’s a dam in Belleville that breached, parts of town are being evacuated. And the water in the Pecatonica river is still rising.
Meanwhile, Northern Californians can barely remember rain.
..... But Pepperidge Farm remembers!
Isn’t a foot of water against water useage rules?
Once things will begin hitting closer to home, (such as the above WI or flooding in Pennsylvania) some already have in some form or another, even so overall we have been pretty fortunate and lucky in our area, (central Illinois) the public will begin to realize that there is something in the making, all of it outside human control and NO CONNECTION to human made Global warming All we can do is prepare best possible, hope for the best and if at all possible stay out of harms way. As the old saying goes History has a habit of of repeating itself, good or bad Most people dont pay any attention to historic accounts or learn from it and ignoring it will not make it go away. And so far, as the news media is concerned it has not made the connection either and has been pretty quiet about it.
THINGS TO COME
Not that it matters one way or another what I believe or think; but I do believe that we are already several years in to another anniversary of a repetitive event which about 1500 BC or about 3600 years ago, give or take, amongst many other things triggered the (TEN PLAGUES) as well as the explosion of Thera, located within the Archipelago of Santorini and at the same time rearranged the Mediterranean landscape permanently. Indirectly and in a roundabout way, turning days in to night for some time, and providing the final straw, scaring the Egyptian ruler at the time, most likely Thutmose III not only giving him an Excedrin headache but also convincing him that it would be a good idea to release the Israelites from bondage. This event entered the annals of history as the EXODUS.
Along here it may be of interest to note that the TEN PLAGUES were not events just made to order for good old Moses, as similar events; of course of somewhat different nature bedeviled the ancient Chinese as well. What became evident by searching some of the ancient records within the same timeframe, what clearly points out that what was taking place at the time was not just localized, but affected the whole planet. The interesting part is that the Jews being pretty sharp by nature, especially one in particular, MOSES, utilized these events to threaten the Egyptian ruler with and by doing so eventually gained the release of all the Israelis from bondage.
Going back in history using the same time span or multiples of 3600 we arrive at another historic event, which was predictable yet unavoidable and once again it entered the annals of history as the DELUGE. In other words these events seem to have a common denominator or trigger and once again it seems we are running into another one and probably are already one third into it causing all kinds of strange weather patterns along with what humans refer to as Global warming etc. but the finale is yet to come.
I have a feeling that the Vatican may be thinking along similar lines and in order to get ahead of the proverbial curve, a while back built a fairly sophisticated observatory on Mount Graham in Arizona. Actually about 25 years ago when I found out about this project it made me wonder as to what are they really looking for? And as I looked into this subject a little closer, much to my surprise, many interesting things turned up.
To anyone who never has looked into this subject, given it much thought or let religious believes get in their way, all this may sound like some crackpot idea. But whatever has been taking place so far in regards unusual weather patterns, more frequent earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, flooding, draughts as well as unusual levels of heat, producing hard to control fires as well as seasons running into one another etc. speaks pretty well for this repetitive event. There are plenty of records of all this taking place currently on our planet, all it takes is for a person to look for it, as all this seems to be validating this reoccurring event. On top of it another event which maybe on the horizon, what may add to the natural calamities, runs concurrent with the above and is another GRAND SOLAR MINIMUM. But it would take too much to go into it here. But details about it may be found on the internet.
All I can say and emphasize is that I wish to be wrong as some of these events may turn out to be quite destructive, some of them already have been. Unfortunately there is not much we can do about it, just prepare best possible, hope for the best and try to stay out of harms way. The question remains, what we are witnessing now here and there around our planet, will these events become even more frequent, severe and wide spread? Only time will tell.
