"a Christian gay-conversion camp"
Is there any such thing? I've never heard of one; my impression is that "gay conversion" is a one-on-one or small group form of therapy, just a form of counseling, not something like a drug-rehab facility.

It was on South Park so it must be true!
Note I am a South Park fan, but it’s still TV!

Only in the movies.

Those are generally for teens. One on one therapy is expensive and doesn’t provide the kind of total immersion experience parents want. You can find accounts on line from people who were in live-in conversion programs, though it sometimes may seem like they’re more of a thing for in the media than they are in real life.
