RALEIGH, N.C. -- Police filed charges Friday against three people accused of helping tear down a century-old Confederate statue during a protest this week at North Carolina's flagship university. The charges came as a member of the University of North Carolina Board of Governors said the monument known as Silent Sam will be reinstalled on the Chapel Hill campus within 90 days, CBS Raleigh affiliate WNCN reported.
Orange County District Attorney Jim Woodall confirmed to WNCN that three people face charges of misdemeanor riot and misdemeanor defacing of a public monument. The UNC police department said the three aren't affiliate with the university.
University and legislative leaders have condemned the protesters' actions as "mob rule," demanding a hard look at the police response and a full criminal investigation. The State Bureau of Investigation has been brought in to assist.

Make the perps pay for the restoration.
I miss tear gas, rubber bullets and water canons. I want to see crowds of protestors swimming through the streets riding waves from water canons. What happened to those days when law and order existed.
Please follow through.
Not surprised they were from off campus.
I bet a leftist judge will let them go with very little punishment.
MAKE them DO THE RESTORATION WORK ! UNDER ARMED CONFEDERATE GUARD.
If they don’t do the work properly bust a round of Rock Salt in their a$$e$ until it’s done correctly.
In fact round up ALL these PunkPerps Nationwide and REFORM Chain Gangs then send ‘em around the Country to Repair or Replace ALL the damage done everywhere.
The police response Monday was much different from the response to a similar protest a year ago. In 2017, officers in riot gear faced criticism for heavy-handed tactics after using metal barricades to keep activists from getting near the statue. The portable barriers weren’t used Monday, and officers didn’t keep protesters away from the statue.
University and legislative leaders have condemned the protesters’ actions as “mob rule,” demanding a hard look at the police response and a full criminal investigation. The State Bureau of Investigation has been brought in to assist.
Police criticized when they acted. Police criticized when they didn’t act. Typical lib response; whatever you do it’s wrong.
Take them out to the woods, put a bullet in their leftist heads, and let the maggots and vultures feast.

There ya go!!
If enough of them get up in arms about it, it will be heard loud and clear.
Don’t hold your breath on any of this happening.
“I miss tear gas, rubber bullets and water canons. “
Ah, the good old days. Don’t forget the German Shepherds....love to watch them work.
Don’t forget the dogs!
The 46th North Carolina Infantry regiment stands ready for duty...
But first you need have them disinterned...
Thanks Libloather. That'll give them 90 days to restore the statue, and the length of the remainiing school year to diiscuss "the right way" to remove the statue.
Everything the dimmo, leftest, fascist chancellor said is BS. The university was behind this totally and the police were most likely instructed to let it happen.
Former Chancellor Sitterson granddaughter proudly admits she was involved because she is ashamed to be white, but apparently not ashamed enough to give up her slot at UNC nor I assume the big fat undeserved scholarship I bet she is getting on some pretense angle none of our children would get, even though, you know, her democratic family of either Lawyers or Doctors from there do not need or really qualify for!!!!!!!!!!!
Her elite status is something everyone should loath, of all colors!!!!!!!!!!!
And her lack of education and knowledge from such an elate family of historic background is underlined!!! Way to go Granddad...teaching the generations well....breading more Nazis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“The UNC police department said the three aren’t affiliate with the university.”
Outside agitators, a staple of the left.
