The WaPo published an article that was supposed to praise the so-called "transgendered" but instead is a textbook example of mental illness.
Starting at age 11, [she] prayed for breast cancer. So distressing were the markers of [her] femininity that Kris Irvin – who identifies as a man and uses the pronouns they, them and their – would have welcomed abnormal cell growth in [her] "crappy and dysfunctional body."
"Kris" was so mentally ill that she wanted to have cancer. Kris is so mentally ill that she refers to herself as "them." That used to be called schizophrenia; now it's called "trailblazing candidate for governor of Vermont." Kris thinks a healthy woman's body is "dysfunctional." This first paragraph screams of mental illness. At the Washington Post, the inmates run the asylum.
Irvin knew of no other remedy for the physical and emotional agony that seemed to intertwine in [her] breasts, as [she] knew of no word to describe what [she was] experiencing.
As the original reads, "[i]n their breasts"? It sounds like the diary of a crazy woman.

The only form of mental illness where politicians are working to make it illegal to try to help them.
Poor lady/man whatever. I know what she is going through. The voices in my head say weird things too.
I only have 2 extra voices. Wish I had a 3 extra so we’d have a foursome to play bridge.

Well, there’s also homosexuality.
It must be a living hell to have the body of one sex but the mind of the other constantly at war with itself. I can’t even imagine such a thing.
Until this mental illness is viewed as true and bonafide mental illness and not something to be placated; it will never get the kind of attention it needs to develop a treatment if there is one. One cannot change the chromosomes in ones body regardless of how many disfiguring surgeries one gets any more than they can change how the thought process in the brain sees the self as a different sex than what their body is. It’s a complete disconnect.

Any surgeon who would cut off healthy organs, limbs and systems just because a depressive person requested it, ought to at least lose their license for unethical behavior, and possibly ought to face criminal charges for aggravated assault or maiming.
As a human being I feel sorry to hear that this person was traumatized in such a way. It is sad to read about people that have been through so much. If only they could find a way to direct their anger and frustration in a positive way instead of self destruction, as well as the destruction of others.
I see people out in the world that have been through extreme trauma and they are able to cope with it somehow, while it totally destroys others.
To me this is a sad story.
I know it's confusing but "transgender woman" means a man. A dude. Born with a pecker.
This story sounds like a biological woman who wants to cut her tits off. This would maker her a "transgender man."
Someone needs to build asylums for such creatures to safely live in. They could be marketed as “safe communities”. Let the rest of us recover from the last several years of force-fed insanity. I’m tired of the continual creepy details of these people’s lives. Even if you avoid the articles, the headlines and pictures are everywhere.
I never wanted to know this much about their world. It was better for all when they kept their illnesses to themselves.
This is not its own illness.
Mental illness follows fashion, or at least it seems that its overt manifestations do. Crazy people are influenced by the society around them, picking up on what is current, and their delusions are formed accordingly. I believe this is why the onset of transgenderism, very little seen throughout history, was so rapid. It is more a memetic illness than a mental illness, afflicting suggestible people.
In other words, you can blame the media and the internet for the hordes of people cutting off their own body parts.

No, in this case, the writer is using the terms backward. The person is actually a woman, but she “identifies” as a man.
I think the difference is that this woman is a “ ‘transgender’ woman,” while a man would be a “transgender woman.”
We soon won’t be able to discuss this sort of thing in English words, at all. We’ll just have to hold up pictures of body parts, point, and grunt.
