Federal judge grants preliminary injunction in 3D-printed gun case
The Washington Times ^ | August 27, 2018 | David Sherfinski

A federal judge on Monday granted a preliminary injunction to a coalition of states seeking to block a Texas-based company from posting online blueprints for how to make 3D-printed guns.

The ruling by U.S. District Judge Robert S. Lasnik followed an initial temporary restraining order he granted in late July that blocked the federal government from implementing terms of a settlement the company, Defense Distributed, struck with the State Department earlier this year that would have allowed founder Cody Wilson to start posting the files again.

The ruling Monday means the blockade will continue while the judge considers the broader merits of a lawsuit brought by a group of state attorneys general who argued the online posting of the files threatens public safety.

Why would a judge stop people form printing a gun-case?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I see a plastic printed guy as worth bupkiss. is it good for more than one shot? Or, if so, how many shots?

I recall the hysteria over composites used in guns. They were going to get on board aircraft. The world would end. I have a couple with composites now.

I guess we only oppose prior restraint if your name’s Ellsberg.

and yet the programs in question are all over the internet

this only goes to show,
1. how ignorant (and dangerously anti-American) some judges and politicians are these days
and
2. how much money we taxpayers are wasting paying for them and their “work”

court has no authority to pre-censor anyways
(there being no imminent danger, and that’s the only even remotely-conceivable exception)

this goes to show that our country is afflicted with judges who are ready to violate or deny all of our rights (at least, the 1, 2, 4, and 14th amendments)

such judges need to be removed ASAP, imho, they are a present danger to all of us

Shoot, anyone with a clue can make a functional gun from a piece of metal tubing, a spring from a pen, a rubber band, and a nail.

This judge and these leftists are simple retarded.

Oh yeah, you can use plastic tubing and a plastic spring. Won’t work for many shots, but will work. Can even add a wood handle for an extra buck or two. Again, this judge and leftists are idiots.

Zip guns in the fifties/sixties caused a lot of lost tube antennas on cars. Perfect for .22. Clothespins also went missing, sometimes.

Well, Heck!

I have a #2 lead pencil and 8 1/2 x 11 paper.

I might draw a gun on that paper.

EEK!

Ban #2’s, Ban paper.

Funny you mention paper. Paper+water+flour can make a dencent one shot barrel. So yeah, maybe this idiot judge will ban paper, water, and flour next.

Neat thing with paper: you can twist it to get something akin to riffling and therefor increased accuracy. Have more, but don’t think I should share on a public forum. Think I’ve made my point.
