The abuse was widespread and worldwide. Many bishops were involved in the cover up. The principal of my secondary school (high school) was a pedophile priest and abused many teenage boys, especially those who were borders at the school. The local bishop covered for him and other pedophile priests in the County. Sometimes they were ordered to move to a different parish, but that seemed to be the extent of any disciple and the police were not informed. The same thing happened all over Ireland and it all started coming to the attention of the media in the 90’s. To be fair to Francis, if he did cover it up and ordered everyone to keep quiet, I don’t think he’s the first pope to take this approach.
I sometimes wonder how many centuries this went on for because I’m not convinced it’s a recent phenomena. There was an ex-nuns testimony that I heard that was very harrowing about being abused physically and sexually whilst in a convent.

What a scumbag. He rants and raves about globull warming and giving illegal immigrants a pass, but does nothing to protect the youth of his church from predators.
I interpret his silence thusly: he knew. He wants to deny it but he thinks there may be proof that he knew and then he’d be proven to be lying and actively covering it all up. So he’s hiding.
I have always wondered if he might have abuse history in his own life. He wouldn’t be the first Pope with that taint.
Better to be silent and thought to complicit, than to open one’s mouth and prove it to be true.

OH, GOODY, lets get the media in on this issue and make sure this Pope steps down, then trash him and destroy him and his reputation...just like liberals are doing to a POTUS...
