The African National Congress (ANC) said that the bill which would have the power to take land away from white farmers to rebalance racial disparities needed to have further consideration.
Nonceba Mhlauli, a spokeswoman for the ANC’s chief whip, said: “The bill in its current form would need to be re-considered in light of the process of reviewing Section 25 of the constitution for the expropriation of land without compensation.
“Were the bill to be re-introduced, it would contain a clause or clauses reflecting expropriation of land without compensation if that is the way that South Africans have chosen to go.”
The government is trying to change the status quo where the white community who only make up eight percent of the populations own 72 percent of the farms....

It isn’t scrapped, just delayed. The ANC will find a way to make it constitutional and go ahead with it.
It just buys time for white farmers to get out, which is still a win.
I think the banks kinda stepped in and described the chaos that would follow. New owners would not get real credit established, and the downfall would start up.

I’ve been friends with a guy I’ve done business with in SA for almost 15 years. He is my age, we have been chatting on FB every day about this. His father/family owns and farms almost 2k acres, raises some cattle also and leases land in different areas around “the valley” as he terms it. He said they won’t leave, he moved his wife and kids to a gated community to live with friends while this is getting settled. He tells me most of his fathers employees are sick of what is going on, but they know if they help defend the property they will be killed, so they can’t rely on anyone when/if the time comes except family. He’s already told me he’s come to grip with the fact his father will die on that property one way or another, same with his sister and two brothers that are there also. They all know it’s a losing battle, that if they decide to take it they will, you can’t fight the numbers like they will have, but they won’t leave. There will be a lot of blood shed if they unilaterally decide to do this.
Russia just accepted 15,000 of them to come farm there on fallow land and it is a hell of a deal for the Ruskies. Those 15,000 will soon be feeding most of Asia.
It is time for the US to get their collective thumb out of their butts and accept more than 15,000. I am biased. I am a Boer. We fit into America better than most native born Americans.

I read the land value has plummeted due to the threat of government confiscation. They can’t sell.
The thoroughly corrupt leaders in South Africa *will* succeed in driving whites off of their farms.Rather than use an official law they might use an unofficial policy of allowing attacks on farmers in the middle of the night.
