The NYS AG is, unlike at the federal level, a separate elected office. In part that is so the governor cant order them to do anything. What we see here appears to be corruption, again, at the highest level of the Cuomo in ministration

Yep, Guv has no such authority.
But, the AG now has cover if she decides to comply.

But the NY Law Journal used the phase 'New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in June ordered state Attorney General Barbara Underwood'. So did the writer for the Law Journal get it wrong or is this a case of lawyers exceeding the law? Since we know that the media is never wrong and lawyers never try to go around the law, I'm confused. /S

Even though the office is currently occupied by an interim , appointee replacing pervert Schneiderman she was appointed by the Legislature NOT Cuomo. The office is exactly as you described, totally separate and not subject to the authority of the governor. As dumb as he is I cannot believe Mario’s brat would be so stupid.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in June ordered state Attorney General Barbara Underwood to pause her investigation into Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.s handling of the Harvey Weinstein case. Can anyone say obstruction!

That's a no brainer.Vance, like just about every Rat politician in the country,is focused on driving DJT from office and bankrupting him as well.
Per order of Rat Party Headquarters that takes priority over *everything* else.

Back in May when I was in the Albany area babysitting my son's cats, the story about Eric Schneiderman broke. Vance wanted to be assigned to investigate. The article below is in regards to the State probe into Vance's office, and Vance's request to investigate Schneiderman. This article is from May 9th, 2018, so it didn't take long for Andy Cuomo to put the Vance investigation on hold (June):
Cuomos lawyer rips Cy Vance over Schneiderman probe letter
