MSNBC hosts linked President Trump's approval rating with people who vote based on "whats going to give me more money in my pockets" on Thursday.
MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle also said "a lot of people vote pretty selfishly" when it comes to supporting Trump.
While we could find or do find the presidents constant lying or lawlessness or reprehensible behavior morally unacceptable, a lot of people vote pretty selfishly, and they say, Whats going to give me more money in my pockets? Ruhle said in opening a segment with billionaire Tom Steyer.
Or whats going to make abortion illegal, or whats going to make sure that my Second Amendment rights stay the same, and clearly, that adds up to enough people that the president still has something akin to 40 percent of the electorate in polls," added co-anchor Ali Velshi.
Trump is currently sitting at 43.3 percent in the Real Clear Politics average of major polls, a 6.2 rise since December of 2017 before the GOP tax bill was passed. In a breakdown of respondents, his approval among Republicans is consistently high and consistently low among Democrats.
Steyer, though, pointed to enthusiasm he's seeing in voters opposing Trump that's helping to increase Democratic turnout in elections. He dismissed Trump's approval rating as "constant but at a low level."
"What we are seeing is great passion," he said, pointing to Florida's recent election. "And Florida is a perfect example, Stephanie. A seventy percent increase in Democratic turnout last Tuesday. What that says is, people are deeply upset with this administration, deeply upset with their policies, and deeply upset with their lawlessness.
Steyer, 61, is a former hedge from manager from San Francisco that has since become one of the most active Democratic donors in the country.
Did people who wanted ObamaCare want it for everyone or did they believe they were going get 'better, cheaper' healthcare coverage for themselves?
I guess we're supposed to vote socialist so 'everyone' benefits.
Well, you know, we’re just “selfish” deportable who simply aren’t as good as the other party - you know, the one that approves of every perversion you can think of and murdering little babies.
“It’s the economy, stupid.” Remember that?
Of course all rich and successful are so fricking selfish in leaving the not so rich behind. /S

Because using the government to confiscate wealth from those who have earned it and distributing it to those who have not is ... selfless.

wanting the best for your descendants = selfish
giving away everything to savage people unrelated to you = noble
Wasn’t that Bernie’s whole platform? And the witch’s lip service to the little people?
Projection much? The democrat side has all the people with their hands out for the “free stuff”.
Everybody in the world listens to the same radio station ... WII-FM.
It’s funny how the world works best when people are left to pursue their own self-interests. People do what they have a passion for and do best. People engage in free trade and transactions that benefit both parties best. People make more money, have better lives, and are better able to donate to the charities of their choice. Somehow the “invisible hand” guides the overall system to better choices and outcomes for all when people are free to pursue their dreams.
It’s called FREEDOM!
How did Steyer get rich? He certainly isn’t smart.
Yup - when I saw that unemployment among the minorities, including ex-cons, was at an all time low, first thing I said to myself was, “That selfish b@stard.”
i know i vote for whichever i feel is best for my family.
Projection doesn't get much purer than that.
Yes we do. We vote selfishly for the American Citizen.
What benefits us on the right, benefits those on the Left too.
They’re just too ignorant to realize it.
Conservatives aren’t the only ones getting jobs, tax cuts, and improved lives.
And the left votes based on the freebies they are promised.
What’s the difference?
The difference is, Conservatives vote on the OPPORTUNITY to do better, liberal vote on getting freebies without having to work.
Remember, the best way to befuddle a liberal is to hide his food stamps under his work boots.
Every person does, or should, vote selfishly.
MSNBC should read, “Atlas Shrugged”.
I love how it is selfish to keep MY money. But in no way is it selfish to want other peoples money.
