On one of the nights of the last week of last June, the Syrian security forces imposed strict measures inside and around Damascus International Airport. Just before midnight, a private UAE plane landed on one of the runways.
About forty minutes passed before a huge procession of black Four-Wheel vehicles took off carrying the passengers to the Mezzeh area, in the center of Damascus, where the new office of Major General Ali Mamlouk, director of Syria’s National Security Bureau is located. There, a senior US officer led a delegation that included officers from several US intelligence and security agencies. Ali Mamlouk welcomed the visiting delegation, along with the head of the General Intelligence Directorate, Major General Deeb Zeitoun, and the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Mowafaq Asaad. The meeting between the two sides continued for four hours. What happened?
According to information obtained by the Lebanese «Al-Akhbar» newspaper, the two sides reviewed the various aspects of the Syrian crisis and its stages of development and repercussions in the region, before talking to the most important topic.
The American side made a clear and specific offer: The United States is ready to withdraw its troops completely from Syrian territory, including the Al-Tanf and Eastern Euphrates according to security arrangements supervised by the Russian and Syrian armies. In exchange for three US demands:
First, Iran’s full withdrawal from the Syrian south.
Second, to obtain written guarantees that give US companies a share of the oil sector in the regions of eastern Syria.
Third, the Syrian side to provide the Americans with full data of the terrorist groups and their members, including the numbers of foreign fighter deads of these groups and those who survived, and those may return to Western countries, considering that «the terrorist threat is intercontinental. And what we can get, serve the international security.»
The Syrian answer
With a cool mind, the Syrian side dealt with the American visitors and their “tempting” offer. The answer to the three points was also clear:
First, you are an occupying power in Syria, you entered our territory forcibly without permission and you can go out in the same way. Until that happens, we will continue to treat you as an occupying power.
Second, Syria is not alone in the region; it is part of a broad axis. Our position on the relationship with Iran is clear, and President Bashar al-Assad has repeated on more than one occasion and a speech that our alliance with Tehran, Hezbollah and allied forces that fought the terrorists alongside the Syrian army is «a strong relationship, and this offer does not change our fixed alliances».
Third, «our priority after the war is to cooperate with allied and friendly countries that have not conspired against the Syrian people, and we will not give facilities to the companies of the countries that fought us and still».
But Mamlouk added, «This can be left to a later stage when the Syrian government determines the policy of reconstruction. And then can US companies enter the Syrian energy sector through Western or Russian companies. We consider this a gesture of goodwill in response to your visit.»
Fourthly, with regard to the data of terrorist groups, Mamlouk told his visitors that «about a year ago, the deputy head of Australian intelligence visited me here in Damascus. He confirmed that his visit was conducted with your knowledge, that he was, to some extent, representing you, and asked for information about Australian Islamists of Arab origin who were fighting in the ranks of terrorist groups. And I will repeat to you now what I answered him that day: Today we have a huge information infrastructure for the terrorist groups, and this has evolved dramatically during the years of the crisis. We are fully aware of the dangers that these people pose to us and to you. We are aware of the extent to which you need this information, and we know that it is essential for the security services to stay in touch even during crises. We have already provided information to the Jordanians and to many other countries, including the United Arab Emirates. But our position on this matter today depends on the evolution of your political position from Syria and its government and army. Therefore, Syria will not provide any cooperation or security coordination with you in this regard before reaching stable political relations between the two countries».
The meeting ended with the agreement to keep the communication going through the Russian-Emirati channel, before heading to Damascus International Airport, to leave the same way they came.
Ahhh…...we invade a country and one of the conditions for ending this illegal occupation is that US companies want some of the oil? When did we become so disgusting in foreign affairs?
And in light of the upcoming false flag CW incident in Idlib, it makes perfect sense why Bolton, Nauert, et al are promising a strong response against Syria.

Our policies in Syria have been dead wrong. The president has reluctantly allowed the deep state/ neocon cabal , now headed by John Bolton, to keep pushing this incredibly wrong policy of illegal military occupation of a sovereign country.The president instinctively announced we were getting out of Syria two years ago but was sadly persuaded to remain to try to negotiate crap like this. Then the neo con / deep state colonialist tried two bogus “ chemical attacks” as excuse for attacking this sovereign county ( and as we say in the South , they are “fixing to” do it again in Idlib very soon). Trump was persuaded to take military action on the bogus “chemical” attacks but both reposes were purposely feckless , I think,on his orders. First ,we bombed a runway that was repaired in hours and in the second illegal attack we fired 107 cruise middles at two old empty buildings killing no one.. I think he ordered both weak responses to be weak.
We need to get the hell out of Syria and get John Bolton back on TV and out of foreign policy.

I really, really thought that President Trump wouldn't be played by the Masters of War. How can he not be on to them? Every one of those chemical attacks were at a time when Assad was making progress against those seeking to topple his gov. They gave US/Britain and whoever else is part of these attempts to topple Assad an excuse to attack within a sovereign nation. It made NO sense if it was Assad giving those enabling regime change attempts an excuse to be there.

Then that deranged UK rep to the UN Security Council, Karen Pierce (the one who wears bizarre scarves, and boas, and weird things in her hair) dismisses all the evidence with, “Russia says it, so the exact opposite must be true.”
I am really disappointed Trump did not get us out of Syria like he promised.

This is someone’s BS. The site, Syriana Analysis, is a buffer site for Syria and a political mouthpiece. As for our wanting their oil, we don’t need it and it will be of no advantage for us to buy it. We are already the largest importer and exporter of oil in the world, and the economics of using ourselves and our main contributors: Venezuela, Mexico and Canada are far more sound. We already are receiving only 3% of our oil from the middle east to try to keep them fed through the UN. This thread needs to go into the “86 file.” And if you think I’m wrong, ponder this: why would the only “news” blabber on earth to break this not be one of the ultra-liberal attack dogs in the US? They’d give up their left arm to run this. But they have said nothing. And it certainly isn’t because they feel a sudden overwhelming urge to patriotism when they never have before in their history.

I'm commenting on what I've seen evolve with the WH. With some of the people our guy has on his foreign affairs team, why would it surprise me if they want some of Syria's oil?
This fictionalization would be credible except for a demand for a cut of the oil.
A country in as weak as a position as we are in Syria, and, at the same time, breaking records in our own oil production, simply doesn’t need the little bit possible in Syria - especially given the politics on the ground there, regardless of the war outcome. Nice try though, I think it was a play at the of us who are convinced we only went after Assad for an oil pipeline, when the REAL PROBLEM that Hillary had with Assad was that he had successfully showed how a majority-Muslim country could be run in a way that ALL MINORITIES (including Christians) were respected and safe.
The other two items were actually an excellent summary of we could try to hope for there - we want to protect Israel by keeping Iran away and we still think we can distinguish between so-called ‘terrorists’ and ‘normal people’ from that part of the world, as if there’s any sharp dividing line.

I do think Russia is on the right side of history in their defense of Syria. I am not anti-Trump, I am anti-neocon.
Some on FR view anything against perpetual US regime change and interference in other countries as Propaganda.
I have followed the events in Syria since someone I know disappeared there while embedded with the US supported moderate Headchoppers.
If you want, please follow news from the US Embassy in Syria. We haven’t even had one there since early February 2012, but our government tries pretending we do.
