Gillum: Florida would tax corporations, join other states to pay for Medicare for all

Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum (D) said Sunday that he would increase taxes on corporations in the state to help fund his plan to provide Medicare for all.

Gillum was pressed on CNN's "State of the Union" about his pledge to provide medical care for everyone in his state, including how he would pay for it.

"I don’t buy that," Gillum said when asked if higher taxes are a prerequisite of Medicare for all. "I will absolutely not raise taxes on everyday working Floridians."

The Democrat said he would look to increase taxes on corporations instead, arguing that only 3 percent of companies in the state pay a corporate tax rate.

Andy is a newbie to all of the free crap/exempt stuff. That's adorable.

What’ll happen is that the Governor of Alabama will show up and start talking to corporations based in Florida, and in less than six months...they will be convinced to move.

“Medicare for all” would be a federal program and not a state program. As governor, Gillum has nothing to say in that.

Corporations don’t pay taxes. The monies remitted to governments comes from their customers in increased prices, from the stockholders or from the employees in
reduced wages. They are tax collectors and remitters.

I’m sure the corporations this moron proposes to tax won’t pass on the expense to their consumers.

Right, he'll raise taxes only on corporations and evil, rich (or retired ...) Floridians, ushering in the Workers' Paradise in our time.

These people might be cute if they weren't so destructive.

You are not supposed to know that.

This is a Dem tactic. They know the ‘little people’ will pay the taxes imposed on corporations. They just pit the ignorant people against big business, and it works a lot of the time.

Well then he will have to tax corporations at at about the 90% level then. California in their proposal last year suggested they would tack on at least a 15% tax at the payroll level to come up with the estimated $400 Billion they would need. It will never work.

What is this ‘medicare for all’ nonsense that popped up recently?

You have to hand it to the left - they know how to coin phrases that resonate with the gibsmedats.
