In Kavanaugh confirmation fight, just a handful of senators hold the key
Fox News ^ | September 2, 2018 | Chad Pergram

The Senate’s final verdict on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh – whose high-stakes, high-wire confirmation hearing begins Tuesday – will hinge on the views of just a handful of lawmakers.

As it stands, Republicans hold a razor-thin, 50-49 majority with one vacancy. Arizona Republican Gov. Doug Ducey will soon appoint a successor to the late Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., but even then the GOP majority can suffer few defections.

These are the senators to watch:

Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska

These senators can be mavericks in their own right. Further, they fret about how health care issues and access to reproductive assistance are challenging in their sprawling, rural states. Both Collins and Murkowski are moderates. A defection by either or both of these senators could spell problems for the confirmation of Kavanaugh.

Joe Manchin from WV pissed off mountaineers with his immediate attention to gun control upon becoming a senator. Add to that his daughter who is the CEO of Mylan jacked up the price of Epipens to an indefinable level. Joe has been practicing sucking a bowling ball through a garden hose to get elected. He’ll vote for Kavanaugh.

Reproductive assistance? Is that what they call it now?

These one issue females tick me off.

First of all, there is no case at the feet of the USSC regarding overturning Roe vs Wade.

As far as precedence....Roe vs Wade....overturned all precedence since the beginning of our courts.

“These one issue females tick me off.”

Agreed.

Has anyone asked them point blank why murdering innocent babies is so important to them?

-Nicely put!
Filing away that line for when confronted by those crazies.

By this time next week, if Governor Doug Ducey does his job in a business-like manner, we could have a good solid 51st Republican vote back in the Senate.

First choice - Kelli Ward, only recently defeated in the primary by Martha McSally, but an excellent choice in her own right. Or maybe Sheriff Joe, but it would be only for a short while (the rest of McCain’s term), as Sheriff Joe is already of advanced age.

But it is not “the McCain seat”, neither Cindy nor Meghan should be considered. Oh, maybe John McCain’s mother, but DEFINITELY neither the wife nor daughter.

Of course, it is not necessary that the appointee actually be a resident of the state at time of ascending to office, as in the instance of Herself being elected to the Senate from New York, or Robert Kennedy before Herself. Carpetbagging definitely has a bad reputation.

If that exception could be made, Sarah Palin might be in the running.

Article I, Section 3:

“No Person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen.”

Liberals are so hypocritical. They cry when majority of whites vote for trump but celebrate when majority of blacks vote for obama, Gillum and Adams. So frustrating. They call us racists....spit! They are the worst.

We are watching the democratic senators who vote against Kavanaugh for the midterm elections. It gives us good cause to vote against them.

Further, they fret about how health care issues and access to reproductive assistance are challenging in their sprawling, rural states.

Which, of course, have NOTHING to do with whether a jurist is qualified to hear cases and apply Constitutional law to appellate cases.
