What led the church to where it is today was unspeakable crimes and institutional cover-ups. At a moment when unqualified humility would seem the only possible response available to leaders of the Catholic faith, they instead choose to engage in the scurrilous scapegoating of innocent gay people. They demonstrate an unwillingness to accept full responsibility and a breathtaking absence of decency. Abuse in the church occurred not because of homosexuality but because church leaders created safe spaces for predators. Some of the abusers might have been gay. So what? Psychologists say pedophiles are sexually aroused not by gender but by youth, and homosexuality does not make people more likely to abuse others, as studies have shown. Some of the victims in Pennsylvania were girls.
When priests tell church members that homosexuality is a bar to Heaven, that's ultimately a spiritual matter the faithful must work out for themselves, but when church officials charge that homosexuality causes outrages in communities here on Earth, the discussion becomes a concern for believers and non-believers alike. Whether for spiritual or humane principles, the reaction from within and without the church must be to categorically reject such hateful messages.

Well l do blame homosexuality so take that.
Only about 90%, that's all.
If I remember correctly, ninety-eight percent of the child sexual abuse by Catholic priests was of boys and two percent was of girls. I won’t blame this crime against God on gays, just 98% of the crime. [Breaking their vows with adult women is an entirely separate issue.]

Like 70 - 80% according to reports I’ve read. And if one takes the general population as about 4% homosexual, that translates to priestly abuse that’s about 20 times more prevalent in that demographic.
Debauchery has been a catholic hallmark for 2000 years. The PA grand jury investigation went back 70 years, which is pre-Vatican II. 70 years is about the limit for living memory, but this really started 2000 years ago.
Don’t blame homosexuals for pederasty. Or NAMBLA...
I beg to differ. Why don’t the Church allow priests to marry like they did until the middle ages? Celibacy encourages homosexuals to apply for the priesthood.

Funny you mentioned that because a while back an ordained Priest profusely blamed VII on this scandal and other things as well.
I say this because a lot of lay people say the same thing, but it is dismissed because they are ‘lay people’. Ordained Priests do as well.
And were the bishops, cardinals and popes homos as well?
Or is it a broader Catholic problem.
Before you answer, remember, multiple popes have allowed free reign of homos inside the Vatican.
They work there.
They party there.
They use drugs and have homosex there.
It is known and written about widely in Italian newspapers.
But it is also known by Roman Catholic hierarchy and allowed - under multiple popes.
