RE: The Other Mrs. McCain

You are correct in your recounting this evil act by McCain. I know one and knew one Naval Aviator POW who said the same thing! Both of these gentlemen are/were retired Admirals who knew all the details and their stories were backed up by their wives.

All three of us were very active in the Experimental Aircraft Association in the Washington D.C. area. BZ

I agree completely. But I have to say, I read a story about Carol McCain’s divorce from her first husband. The two men from McCain’s first marriage were actually the product of Carol’s first marriage. The slant of the story sounded like McCain pursued her out of her first marriage to a classmate from Annapolis. She sued her first husband for divorce claiming adultery. McCain did adopt her two sons and they had a daughter together. Carol McCain was quite magnanimous toward John in 2008, but in their divorce decree he was very generous. Just adding more to the story.

Right. Reagan was campaigning for president in 1980 when McCain got a license to marry Cindy before the divorce from Carol. Ronald and Nancy had become friendly with Carol and hired her for the White House. Reagan never had much use for McCain, and that’s probably what made him a ‘maverick’.

Songbird: allegedly, he "sung" to his captors

This assertion puzzles me.

Is it correct that McCain admitted publically that his captor's torture and treatment broke him?

It is all good, dustoff339!

I did not like John McCain either! There are several of my posts on the various McCain threads make that point very clearly!

Thank you for your service!

It is not reported but McCain’s irresponsible actions caused the the deadly fire aboard the Navy aircraft carrier, the USS Forrestal, on July 19, 1967 in the Gulf of Tonkin. crewmen and those who have investigated the case that McCain deliberately “wet-started” his A-4E to shake up the guy in the plane behind his A-4. “Wet-starts”, done either deliberately or accidentally, shoot a large flame from the tail of the aircraft.

In McCain’s case, the “wet-start” apparently “cooked off” and launched the Zuni rocket from the rear F-4 that touched off the explosions and massive fire. The F-4 pilot was reportedly killed in the conflagration. “Wet starting” was apparently a common practice among young “hot-dog” pilots. There were 134 fatalities and 161 injured. More than 20 aircraft were destroyed. The damage forced Forrestal to suspend combat operations as a result of McCain’s ego that has long been covered up.

He called Cindy a “c-— and a painted whore/trollop” in front of three reporters and at least two staff members. His excuse was “it had been a long day.”

McCain was notorious in congress for his volcanic temper, filthy mouth and dirty jokes. I am certain Cindy was often the target of his tantrums and filthy mouth.

What a (non) choice we had in 2008. And to think I had to pull a lever for this traitor because I knew what Obama was.

Turns out, they aren’t much different, overall.

She has been mentioned a lot on fb. People do not like him. I do not think I saw one post supporting him. They are disgusted at the funeral spectacle. It was more like a dem rally. If that had been my dad, you can bet your money, I would not have been thinking of President Trump. McCain was a bitter old man and he went to his grave that way.

I have known a number of POWs over the years and some of their wives as well. I have never called any of them victims which I consider an insult. But, many endured broken marriages, broken lives, and more challenges than anyone ought to have to endure. One of them was LTC Jim Thompson who was the longest held POW in the history of the United States. He was captured in South Vietnam long before Alverez was shot down in North Vietnam. Jim was a POW just a few days short of 9 years. His wife thought he was dead and moved in with another man. When he got back, his wife believed that his mind was affected by his captivity. She was right and she divorced him. He was unable to build a relationship with his children or any other woman after his divorce. He could function when on duty, but that was about it. I was just a Captain then, but I knew that he was not capable of performing as a Lieutenant Colonel. The Army should have medically retired him, but he had no other life so he was allowed to stay on active duty until he had a massive stroke.

Victims? No, none of them, but they were dealt a really tough hand and I will not sit in my easy chair and curse the choices that they made.

I had vague memories of how he mistreated/disrespected his first wife, and had to go to my search engine to find any information.

I too, noticed she became erased from all his adulating bios. The entire show was a circus, but this omission was for me especially egregious!

T Y 4 posting.

FWIW

A drawing of the stern of Forrestal showing the
spotting of aircraft at the time. Likely source
of the Zuni was F-4 No. 110. White's and McCain's
aircraft (A-4s No. 405 and 416, respectively) are
in the right-hand circle.

And still, Meghan is so very proud of him. I can only imagine her being very snippy with the first Mrs. McCain.

On a side note, I read today that Carol was to be at today’s burial.

It was reported, but it is fake news. The wet start would have had a fireball like a Saturn V to reach around the stern to an AC parked at his 3 o-clock. This a lefty leftover story from his run against 0.
