US President Donald Trump has warned the Syrian government and its Russian and Iranian allies against "recklessly" attacking rebel-held Idlib province.

In a tweet he warned of "a grave humanitarian mistake" in which hundreds of thousands of people could be killed.

Syrian government forces are said to be preparing a huge offensive on the last major rebel stronghold in the country.

The UN says such a campaign could have disastrous consequences for thousands of civilians.

The US State Department also warned on Monday that Washington would respond to any chemical attacks by the Syrian government or its allies.....

US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley tweeted: "All eyes on the actions of Assad, Russia, and Iran in Idlib. #NoChemicalWeapons"......

John McCain must running this country from his grave if President Trump is out to protect the Syrian opposition in the north.

McCain used to visit the terrorist Al-Qaeda-Al-Nusra forces in northern Syria and Lindsey Graham dropped in on them a few months ago.

Nikki Haley is already beating the drums about the use of chemical weapons with her tweet tonight.

Something is smelly here and as I said before I didn't elect DJT to get whooped up about Syria and some "humanitarian crisis".

The humanitarian crisis is in Venezuela with the neighboring countries facing a wave twice as bad as the 2 plus million who already have left.

Disappointing, to say the least.

Trump’s just making sure the media covers the atrocities.
So far they haven’t.
The tactic used is to indescriminately bomb the areas, send in Russian MPs to accept surrender, repeat as needed, then send in troops to clean up.
It’s barbaric as can be.

If a chemical attack occurs I believe we’re treaty-bound to respond.

Gonna be hell on earth in Idlib.

Oh look, those nice moderate rebels in Idlib that my Gov't is worried about built these nice gallows to hang people on.

The United States is not out to protect the 30,000 insurgents. It is out to protect the 3.5 million civilians in the province, many of whom will have to leave their homes again, if the government even gives them a pathway out. Tens of thousands were bused there in a deal with the government.

Not to mention the civilian casualties.

Not to mention the chlorine.

If they use chlorine on these people, it will once again be claimed that they WMD’d themselves and tried to blame it on Assad—or better still, the U.S. or Israel. And half the world will believe it.

So McCain was working with the Russians to trick DJT?

I don't get it. All I know is that sodium fluoride is not a WMD, as was reported in Syria (unless you consider what goes into our water in the US a “chemical attack” and then you may have a point) and the Obama/Hillary/RINO McCain establishment have been after Assad since before Trump.

It’s another “humanitarian mission”.

I guess we have to bend over for this “humanitarian mission” for the various groups in northern Syria listed on the BBC map including Islamic State.

Our military and its allies were allowed to level the IS HQ city Raqaa.

This is all about containing Iran.

Soon Israel will hand the Iranians their arses.

PDJT is simply preparing the world for it.

No, I meant that half the world would believe the placing of the blame on others. Look at the source.

Was it ever determined what chemical was used? I remember the children foaming at the mouth. That’s chlorine.

Basically. But I think Trump is correct to draw the line at chemical weapons. He retaliated the last time they were used.
