Levi Strauss Announces Massive Gun Control Campaign, Turns Employees into Political Activists

Levi Strauss & Co. has expanded their original mission beyond the manufacture of blue jeans. This “values driven company” now feels a responsibility to “the communities where we live and work” and will now engage with other gun control groups to fight for “gun violence prevention.”

Chip Berg, CEO of Levi Strauss, wrote an open letter to his customers asking them not to bring firearms onto the premises of their stores, offices or other facilities. For him, it was a matter of safety. Of course, law enforcement was exempt from that request.

I guess I could do a personal boycott on LS but I can't as I haven't bought a pair of their "overpriced" jeans since I was about 20y/o which was 36yrs ago. Same with any of their other overpriced crap.

I can buy a pair of Wranglers for half the price of a pair of Levi's.

FULS!

Do they even make anything in the United States?

I gave Levi’s the middle finger decades ago.

Maybe they can recover their losses from real men with gay rear zipper jeans.

Levis. The genes for sissy boys. Real men and Cowboys wear a man’s jean. Real women too!

I haven’t owned a pair of Levi jeans since about the mid-1990s. Screw ‘em.

I guess it’s reasonable to assume that they now have responsibility for the safety and protection of all their customers and associates. That’s how any reasonable man would see it. I would like to see that plan ASAP.

It’s like all the corporations are striking at once. It’s really odd.

Of course, law enforcement was exempt from that request.

Well, law enforcement and criminals who want to shoot up their stores.

Funny how, after so many years of shootings in gun-free zones, some people still think the "solution" to gun violence is telling more law-abiding people not to provide protection.

Another idiot company. Will never buy another pair of Levis. I’ll go with Wrangler, Carhart or Duluth Trading or Dickies.

Shuttered their last North American factories in 2003-2004.

"Levi Strauss & Co. will close its last manufacturing plants in the United States and Canada, eliminating nearly 2,000 jobs, the struggling jeans maker said Thursday. The company will close two sewing and finishing plants in San Antonio by year's end and lay off 800 workers. It will also shutter its three remaining plants north of the border that employ 1,180 people. The company will contract with foreign plants to make up for the closings. The move will allow the company to focus more on product design, marketing and sales of its jeans, said Julie Klee, general manager of Levi Strauss & Co. in Canada. "The closures are an absolutely necessary part of ensuring the long-term competitiveness of our business," Klee said. San Francisco-based Levi Strauss, which just turned 150 years old, became one of America's iconic brands in the 1950s and '60s as Levis became a wardrobe staple of baby boomers. But the company has struggled in recent years to connect with younger consumers. Sales peaked at $7.1 billion in 1996 but have fallen for six straight years to $4.1 billion. In 2002, Levi's U.S.-based parent company closed six U.S. manufacturing plants, eliminating 3,600 jobs..."

Left Coasters like this twit are part of the problem. May they die a slow and agonizing death which they deserve for trying to decide our Second Amendment rights for us. FULS.

Other facilities? I wonder if he is speaking of manufacturing plants in the U.S.?

If anyone knows of a LS manufacturing plant in the U.S., please let me know where.

I don’t think the Chairman has to worry about their overseas slave labor showing up to work with guns.

I don’t even have a pair of Levis to burn. So sad. I think I switched away about the same time you did. It is like boycotting Starbucks. I’d love to, but I’d have to go there first so I could stop going there...

I quit buying levi’s back when they started putting the fag tags on them years ago, so no great loss for me. But just another company, like nike, I will never buy from again. If these companies had any sense, they’d stay away from political issues, but alas, they dont.

My mom, sister and a couple of cousins were hardcore Levi’s workers. They packed it all up and moved away leaving American workers in thier wake.

SCREW ‘EM!
