University of Oxford researchers found that conservatives have a “ right to be skeptical of scientists,” suggesting that skepticism of scientific establishments is valid due to a long and proven history of “scholar activism” in fields like sociology and political science. After all, there is no shortage of examples when it comes to professors teaching their opinion in the classroom and taking part in political activism on campus.
The Econ Journal Watch published a study, conducted by professors from Brooklyn College and George Mason University, which found liberal professors and researchers outnumber conservatives nearly 12 to 1. Depending on the department, this disparity could be as great as 33 to 1, as the study found in departments of history.
Similarly, a study by the National Association of Scholars found that nearly 40 percent of the top ranked liberal arts colleges have zero professors who are registered Republicans.
Shockingly, half of students (54 percent) have stopped themselves from “sharing an idea or opinion in class at some point since beginning college,” almost one-third of students (30 percent) have “self-censored in class because they thought their words might be considered offensive to their peers,” and almost one-third of students (29 percent) have “self-censored on campus outside of class because they thought their ideas might be politically incorrect.”

It’s not “has,” it’s “has for all of my lifetime” of some 78 years! This isn’t anything new. My parents moved to San Francisco in 1936. They told me when I was a student at UC Berkeley that when they arrived, the professors @ UCB were at that time proclaiming that they were going to make Berkeley the first Communist city in the country.
I disagree.....it’s been slow walked ‘until’ the last 20 years....especially under OB. As for UC Berkley..they’ve always been Liberal.
They were liberal dingbats over 40 users ago when I graduated.

Where once the very word Professor brought respect and admiration, today it denotes the “author” of many of the unbelievably idiotic posts and declarations we hear over the media and/or read here on Free Republic.
Especially a Professor of “Social Justice 11985”.

Neither sociology nor political science are true SCIENCES:
noun
1.a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws:
the mathematical sciences.
2.systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation.
3.any of the branches of natural or physical science.

The article contains many URL links to studies that show the overwhelmingly liberal academic bias on campuses. Prof. Jonathon Haidt of NYU is a liberal Jewish atheist who grew up in a radical leftist home, yet he has started a group at heterodoxy.org that is pushing for intellectual diversity on college campuses. He says that there has been a liberal bias for several decades, but that it greatly intensified in the mid-1990s, when many of the “greatest generation” profs retired and the the 1960s activist students-turned-profs became dominant. Haidt has several very good videos on YouTube. Many more people are seeing the intellectual destruction that these Leftists have brought.

So? It’s like boiling a frog in my view! Just look at what it’s done to California. I grew up here, and until I was about 40, this state was #1 by every national measure. But thanks to our “professors,” the tide was turned and the Republicans ( acting then, as they do now like a herd of geldings), sat around, did nothing, and were “surprised” when all of a sudden, they were nowhere to be found in our government, being replaced by a pernicious bunch of Communists. And like we’ve seen elsewhere around the world ( most recently in Venezuela ) they are like a “roach motel,” where they move in but you can’t move them out. Freedom is lost sow quickly and easily to Marxists, but you need weaponry to get them out.
Yes....... and the 60’s was when the students rebelled. This could not have happened without the 60’s generation. Now today we have a generation that only sees with their eyes and thinks with their feelings. ..and these professors know exactly how to push those buttons as does the left entire.
William Buckley made similar observations about Yale University more than 60 years ago, when Ivy League academia was dominated by the World War I generation of descendants of British colonial settlers. They may have been more genteel than today’s scruffy leftist professors, but they were radical too.
Well there’s a boldness about it in the recent years....and frankly a lawlessness. There doesn’t seem to be any boundaries on what is even considered academics. ‘Safe places, and sexual gender studies and all those other frivolous engagements in the halls of learning are just ‘junk’ to feed the kiddies and keep the cash flow coming in by equally stupid parents willing to pay for it.
