The New York City mayor's office says 10 people hospitalized after a large commercial jet arrived from Dubai have tested positive for influenza.
Mayoral spokesman Eric Phillips tweeted on Thursday that some tests came back inconclusive on other viruses and will be re-administered. All 10 patients will be kept in the hospital as a precaution until the final results come in.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention quarantined the double-decker Emirates aircraft holding 520 passengers Wednesday so it could evaluate about 100 of them. Some had complained about coughs, headaches, sore throats and fevers.

I aint flying any more. Last time was last winter and I and my wife caught that flu. Took a couple months to get over that one.
Nice that flying...get to inhale all that recycled air and all.

This is to be expected when air carriers continue to demand, and manufactures design and build, aircraft that more resemble cattle cars than reasonable machines of air transport.
Flying on an airliner is no longer a thing of luxury to be experienced and enjoyed. It is downright ugly, dirty, and guaranteed to spread disease.
The winter before last we flew to Dublin to a wedding. We became sick while there, and were sick for more than a month. Our friend, also at the wedding was hospitalized with pneumonia and had severe side effects such as kidney failure. Starting from a cold! This past May we were on an 11- hour flight on a 787 Dreamliner. That’s the newer Boing jet that somehow pumps fresh air into the cabin. What a huge difference —- . No ill effects whatsoever!!

Absolutely beyond belief that two planes would land with coughs, etc from two different euro cities, the day after the one from Dubai.
I always wished we were not so out in the woods, very poor cell phone reception, wifi etc. Today I am glad to be out in the woods.

So *this* is the year the flu will kill us all. Gosh, better get that vaccine now. .. after hearing a pharmacist speak about genetic enhancement of prescription drugs, we know vaccines are to be trusted. It’s for your own good. Efficacy last year a whopping 30 percent, which sounded generous based on the experiential numbers in my neck of the woods. #MengeleMedicine.
It’s not surprising that several planes from the same location would carry a disease that originated there. It’s the nightmare scenario in some Sci-Fi stories a few years ago.
