Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has smoked marijuana live on the web during a podcast with comedian Joe Rogan.
Mr Rogan offered his guest the drug, which is legal in California, as the pair discussed tech innovation and the public's perception of Mr Musk.
"I mean, it's legal, right?" asked the Tesla founder, before taking a drag on the joint.
Last month, Mr Musk said he was not "on weed" when he tweeted about plans to make Tesla a private firm.
The business leader made the comments in an interview with the New York Times.
He also told the newspaper he works "120-hour weeks" and takes sedatives.
His controversial plans regarding Tesla's ownership were dropped about two weeks later, following outrage from some investors.
In another development, Tesla's chief accounting officer said he had resigned after only one month in the role, citing "the level of public attention placed on the company" among his reasons.
The firm's head of HR, Gaby Toledano, also announced she would not rejoin the company after a leave of absence. Tesla shares fell more than 7% in early New York trading.
'Is it legal?'
During the podcast, Mr Rogan offered Mr Musk a joint, which he said contained a mix of tobacco and marijuana - dried leaves and flowering parts of the female cannabis plant.
Of 50 US sates, recreational cannabis remains illegal in 41 - but it was legalised in California, where the podcast was filmed, in January.
"Is that a cigar?" asked Mr Musk when his host first proffered the joint.
The pair also enjoyed whiskey during the podcast recording.
Mr Musk pointed out: "Alcohol's a drug."
During their conversation, Mr Musk talked about his health and his management of Tesla - which he said was the most challenging of his various businesses and projects.

Some will do anything for the headlines.
If his employees are following suit, that might explain the autonomous cars going haywire.
His idea for how to rescue the trapped boys was the sort of brain fart one has when one is stoned.
The spiral continues
First time I saw him I thought he was doing some form of self-medicating.
This is the knothead who wants to put U.S. astronauts in space aboard his rockets. Federal contracts still have drug free clauses. If the Trump admin has the gumption, it should suspend all agreements with SpaceX and any other Musk enterprise until the a-hole straightens up.
There goes a few more IQ points
I watched this live; Musk took a single baby-draw from a blunt. YMMV.
That said, I’ve done far worse and he seemed pretty normal to me, all things considered.
I own none of his company’s stocks. If I had some extra cash I would short it. This guy is a loser. His car might have a few things that set it apart from others, but Lexus, Mercedes even GM and Ford have products coming down the pike that will put the Tesla to shame.
Normal for normals or normal for Musk?............
Shoot, Rogan huffs up live on virtually every one of his broadcasts.
This creep's brain will soon be so scrambled, it'll look like an IHOP breakfast.
I don’t care if he smokes, but getting stoned in public where others can see is about as wise as getting drunk in public where others can see.
Might work out, might not work out. Best to be prudent.
A loser? He’s achieved some pretty remarkable things in his life. Starting a car company AND a rocketship company within the same decade and running both? What exactly have you done in the past 10 years?
That said... i think he’s snapped. The pressure has gotten to him.
Meh, lots of companies get shakey.
For a CEO of a company with TONS of shorts lying in the wings to go on TV and smoke a joint...?
That’s extremely reckless.
It’s like he’s TRYING to destroy Tesla.
