The first Polish private claim against the German government for compensation over medical experiments at the Auschwitz death camp was to be lodged on Friday with a district court in Warsaw, according to a report.
The claim "will be submitted by the family of a prisoner" who was held at the Nazi German-run camp, lawyer Stefan Hambura, who represents Polish citizens in disputes with German institutions, told reporters.
Public broadcaster Polish Radio cited Hambura as saying he hoped there would be more such suits. More than 1.1 million people perished at the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp during World War II, mostly European Jews, but also Poles, Roma, Soviet POWs and prisoners of other nationalities.

I’m reminded by “scholars” and not too few here that WW II was allegedly caused by the “harsh” reparations that were enacted against the Germans after the Second Reich.
Family run into financial hard times? Are they traumatized?
The victims have every right to litigate compensation, but the families doing so is akin to ridiculous reparations, penalizing those not responsible to the benefit of those not victimized.
Wasn’t it a different government that was responsible? I’m no fan of Nazi genocide, but I have to stick to my principals on this. There are no real villains of victims of it still alive.

You can believe the reparation hawks are keeping an eye on this.
Was thinking same thing. The Germans in power today are not the people who did these things. Why should they be penalized?
If so, I want reparations for the Romans invading my ancestors’ homelands in the fist century B.C. The problem is finding some ancestors of the Roman generals involved...
War is hell. This German government is not responsible for the that past war, any more than the unequal treaty to end WWI and the French were for WWII.
Why should Whites today be hit-up for Blacks’ imaginary “reparations” compensation pre-Civil War? Puzzles me, too. The trillions we’ve spent of them (social programs, EEOC, diversity crap etc etc etc) is light years past what they claim is still “owed”.

The Third Reich is no longer in power in Germany.
They might want to file their suit in Argentina, provided they can find any surviving assets or Nazi’s to file it against.

The responsible government that did it doesn’t exist anymore.
This man is a victim of a specific type of crime outside conventional warfare: Medical Experimentation under Nazi scientists.
His trauma must be enormous and affected his entire life.
I agree the current govt is not the same, but there remain Holocaust survivors among us. These events are not even a century old yet. In Germany some families continue to receive reparations..
