• Morning AB, All. As always, thank you AB for doing this thread so reliably and keeping the peace with gentle thread policing. Thank you Bray for weekly written wisdom, Thank all yon contributors for excellent commentary to flesh it all out.

• Below are the words from my daily political diary. It is quite long so scroll on by if not interested. But do stay around and add your commentary and point of view to the thread.

Check out Pugmama’s posts. We hear she owns pug dogs.

Tuesday date—9/4/18

As of today Brett Kavanagh begins his grilling by the idiots in the senate. For few of them are worth much; most of them are corrupt. Soon to be Supreme Court Justice

I will never, not ever, ever, wear anything Nike again. Nor will lots of America.

Giving that awful Colin Kapernick a job as spokesperson.

Never, ever again. All over this country people are burning their Nikes.

As of this writing Tropical storm Gordon swirls and threatens in the Gulf of Mexico. Word is it will hit late tonight, early tomorrow.

Wednesday date-9/5/18

Indeed I did watch the first day of hearings for the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh.

To begin with, a bunch of assholes in the balcony kept shouting and carrying on. Yes the cops took them out but they were so organized there was a line of assholes awaiting to step up and do some screaming and shouting.

Class, people. The Democrats have class.

Liars, Kamala Harris…..she won’t win dog catcher…lie, then lies more.

Corey Booker….this guy talks and talks and talks.

That Hawaiian babe, she don’t know what the hell she’s talking about.

Lindsay Graham did a nice job.

Grassley, the judicial committee chair, I don’t know, he let the Democrats talk and talk, on and on.

The Dems insisted on some kind of documents they allegedly did not get. They got many thousands of documents but seems they all wanted more.

This is the group who didn’t read Obamacare before they passed it. Now all of a sudden they want to read thousands of pages of legalese?

But hey, it was fun for a political junkee like myself.

Thursday Date-9/6/18

-Sasse “limits of executive power”
The best questioner yesterday of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was by Senator Ben Sasse -Republican, NE.

He asked Kavanaugh what are the limits of executive privilege.

Kavanaugh had a small constitution in his hand and he referred to it. The nominee had a great narrative on executuvie privilege.

Because those Democrats want to impeach Trump, never mind that he was duly elected. So a few savvy Republican questioners are enlightening the American public what the elected President can and cannot do.

The WORST questioner yesterday, I am ashamed to say, was mine own Senator Chris Coons, who kept saying, over and over and over and over and over things that Judge Kavanaugh NEVER said.

Kavanaugh contained hiimself very well in what had to be a marathon session but Coons pressed his last button.

I am so excited. Colin Kapernick’s first commercial will air on the Thursday night game tonight.

I shall never again purchase anything NIKE, either for myself or as gifts for anyone I know.

Bah, humbug.

Friday date-9/7/18

I always liked Burt Reynolds.

At age 82, Burt died yesterday. May he rest in peace.

Yes I did listen to some of the hearings on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Some funny stories.

Diane Feinstein asked why Kavanaugh why he went against the majority for the Sea World company for violating OSHA laws when one of their divers was killed by a killer whale.

Kavanaugh explained that OSHA laws were meant to control things that an employer is able to control.

Employers cannot control Killer whales who go bonkers all of a sudden. Some other examples Kavanaugh gave included running a punt, high wire circus acts.

Seriously, could members of a high wire circus act sue Ringling Brothers for falling off the wire?

Another funny incident was by Corey Booker.

Heh. Seems Corey almost became Spartacus by releasing confidential email of the nominee, a violation of congressional standards.

Only it would seem that those emails had already been approved for release so Booker’s Spartacus went down like a deflated balloon.

Finally, please, somebody shut up mine own Senator Coons, who constantly repeated Kavanaugh incorrectly, forcing the nominee to sputter with anger. Coons also asked Kavanaugh about Nixon firing Archibald Cox.

That was Watergate. I remember it well.

Coons trying to get Kavanagh’s stand on impeachment.

Saturday date-9/8/18

I don’t know her name or why or how she got invited there. But one commenter at the SCOTUS hearings yesterday told a story about birth control that made her cry.

It was the damn dumbest thing ever.

First, she says when she and husband got married they wanted birth control, not wanting a family right away and all that. They decided on an IUD, an “iintre-uterine device” that once inserted needs little attention.

Only her insurance, “due to religious reasons” would not pay to purchase an IUD but she’s all wrong.

Most health insurers, unless one pays extra, do not pay for birth control. The logic being that preventing births is not a health malady in need of a cure.

Anyway, this women said eventually her and husband got enough money to pay for birth control but “WHAT ABOUT THOSE WOMEN WHO NEVER FOUND THE MONEY?” she shouted.

I have no idea what that narrative had to do with Brett Kavanaugh, the nominee, except perhaps that the woman who could not afford birth control should not be denied an abortion.

It was all backwards and upside down. The gubmint has nothing to do with providing birth control. There’s lots of ways to prevent births, besides IUD’s and abortions.

This was the dumbest statement of all, from a pool of people chosen to speak either for or against that awful Brett Kavanaugh who keeps taking away women’s IUDs.

The Republican party in mine own Sussex county Delaware . Seems there were two contenders for Delaware’s only Representative for the House of Representatives. Delaware is one of the few states with more Senators than Representatives to the House. Mike Castle, if anyone remembers him, was once Delaware’s Rep to the House.

Currently a Lisa Blunt Rochester is Delaware’s only Rep to America’s House. She is up for election this coming November.

Anyway, the Pubs had two contenders on the ballot, a Lee Murphy and a Scott Walker.

First, I did not even know our one and only Rep. was also up for election, along with Senator Carper, who I hope loses.

I looked at those two contenders and began to choose one to vote for and I stopped finger in mid-air.

Damn. I hadn’t heard a thing about either one of those two. I wasn’t going to vote for somebody I didn’t know.

So it’s been in all the newspapers with pics of this Scott Walker…WHO WON THE REPUBLICAN PRIMARY!!

Why does that matter? First, HE’S A DEMOCRAT!! He ran on the Democrat ticket last election.

Second, he drives a car made out of plywood.

Third, they showed his victory picture and he was wearing a bathing suit with a towel draped around his neck.

The Republicans in Delaware must hope that Lisa Blunt Rochester wins the upcoming election or we’ll be stuck with a Representative to America’s House who drives a car made out of plywood.

Finally, an update on the rabbit, link to my post from last week below.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3684170/posts?page=90#90

My landscapers came over to do my yard and I showed them this pic and asked if they’d ever seen this rabbit.

Guy shakes his head yes, that it got out of the house, and they couldn’t catch it.

“It cost me $30” the landscaper told me.

We are going to go on a joint tortoise shell rabbit hunt because both of my dogs want to meet this guy.

IMHO she cannot win anything outside the state of Californcation, except possibly if she uses the race card like the firs American Halfrican President did.
