Why Trump's Record Trumps the Media's Spin
The National Interest ^ | September 7,2018 | Christian Whiton

My first reaction to the anonymous anti-Trump op-ed in the New York Times was perhaps unusual for a resident of the swamp, which has been so hyper this week: I chuckled, rolled my eyes, and didn’t even make it to the end of the article before losing interest.

It probably helps that I spent the week in Colorado and Utah, where seemingly no one cares. In the conversations in which I have participated or overheard, this subject has come up zero times. Muted televisions in airports and hotel lounges, which still carry CNN and its angry commentators out of habit, are blissfully ignored as life happens.

Most people outside the swamp either know what the media is up to or just don’t care anymore.

No matter how many outraged opinion pieces or news articles (but I repeat myself) the New York Times produces, no matter how many smarter-than-thou analysts with non-prescription eyeglasses mope about sadly on CNN, no matter how many Obama fan boys and girls left in the White House press corps shriek at the president whenever in earshot, it just doesn’t matter anymore.

The economy hums. Trump keeps us out of foreign entanglements. Wages increase. America’s traditional meritocracy replaces the Democrats’ grievance-based society. Life happens.

And while the New York Times op-ed was a nice try by the media, they must on some level, deep down, grasp the new reality: no one hears their screams.

Perhaps Trump’s greatest gift is that he tricked the press into revealing that 1) they are not very smart at all, and 2) they are not honest.

Summary, the press is composed largely of shifty little dumb b*stards.

The OP in the NYT, among other sensational events this week, was designed to keep Trump’s head down and keep him locked up in the Rose Garden for the remainder of the election season. It failed spectacularly.

Exactly. And this very much mirrors our country. The coastal elities spin it day in day out, while the rest of the country just continues to go about their business. Now that we have Trump on our side, loosening the restraints, we are free to go about our American business even more freely.

Not only did it tick off President Trump’s Base (50+% of the electorate IMHO) it also served to delegitimize the Main Stream Media as the sycophants to the Swamp that they are. It will only get worse for them as the midterms commence.

Someone is paying for all these distractions about Trump.
It is a circus everyday since Trump was elected. It is the same players over and over. The media clowns repeat things over and over. They hardly ever tell us a better solution to problems, just the same old resistance superficial stuff.

It is a great article.

Unfortunately, the "Catch-22" is that since it's a spot-on assessment of what the MSM and talking heads are doing to subvert this administration, very few will ever see this article.

Spot on, worth reading. Seeing the obvious is hard, describing it even harder.
