Well, I’m CANADIAN by birth so let me confirm to everyone this asshole is full of crap with his lies. Now I moved here 2007 to the USA permanently..

1) You CAN CHOOSE your doctor but once you know he’s an idiot, you are stuck with him/her.

2) The doctors and nurses are UNIONIZED. AND they go on strike LIKE CLOCKWORK every 2 years to ask for MORE MONEY from the govt. More money for THEM...NOT for the system and patients.

3) YOU WILL WAIT FOR SURGERY. My aunt, 2 cousins, 3 girlfriends needed surgery and one needed a simple MRI which costs $50 in L.A The MRI wait was 8 months. I had to accompany here to Washington State just to go to a low cost clinic and pay by cash.

4) Once the provincial ministry know you went to the States for treatment—THEY PUNISH YOU. They rarely talk to the US medical system because they are a vindictive bunch of pricks just to spite America. Even at the cost of the patient, they wont do it.

5) IF you dont have a PROVINCIAL MEDICAL INSURANCE—YOU DIE. yes, I stated this correctly. They want you to enroll, and if not, they wont treat you. they dont care. You cant even sue these assholes because ...they are the govt obviously. They think they are bigger than you.

never waited for anything in my life,” he continued. “I chose my own doctors, my mother never paid for a prescription, it was fantastic. And I just got back from Vancouver and I keep hearing this [comment]: ‘Canadians are so nice, Canadians are so nice.’ They can be nice because they have health care...”

Well Jim Carrey, why do so many Canadians come to America for healthcare then?

Because they’re sure as hell aren’t that many Americans traveling the world for healthcare

Yep, good points Jerod

I was also going to mention employer health plans and Blue Cross

As far as bankruptcy...it may not be the cost of medical care, but the inability to work while waiting for surgery or procedures which can cause bankruptcy. So you better also have additional disability insurance for non work related.

I will say I have had nothing but a good experience with Alberta Worker’s Compensation.

Unlike a back/neck injury, mine was a visible injury and later a partial finger amputation. No health care waits and no wait for financial support from WCB. The difference vs the US of A was the amount of payout for a partial loss of index finger.

Income support (lost wages, until able to go back to work was based on % of monthly income), the onetime “payout” was $2600.

Per Dinesh: “Turn over your millions and then we’ll listen, you brazen hypocrite”.

Absolutely, if you are really wealthy, you don’t get to weigh in on this. If you can personally pay out of your pocket for any kind of treatment or procedure, then the reality of government-owned health care will never apply to you.

One of the things he doesn’t mention is that hospitals in the US like Henry Ford Hospital, Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, William Beaumont Hospitals, Oakwood Healthcare Inc, The Detroit Medical Center, and support from physicians from the Pacific Institute all support the overflow of Canadian patients and treat thousands a year. The Canadian health system is a failure when it comes to medical coverage.

Too bad Carrey didn’t stay in Canada. Maybe their healthcare system could have prevent Carrey’s girlfriend from overdosing on drugs and dying.

When was the last time Carrey used the Canadian health system? When did the Canadian health system come into being?

Yes they do. But they are also trying to expand into actual Canada by opening up a clinic in Toronto, about a five-hour drive from Cleveland, that will offer services such as fitness assessments and stress management.

I see a problem in their services though as will they be applying services based upon the AMA or the CMA which is a voluntary group that approves it’s submissions to the government in Canada unlike being a ruling factor for the government in the US. And they are in the midst of trying to figure out if they are going to a one tier or two tier health system since our government implemented the Affordable Care Act. Especially since their government is even more liberally based than ours, if that’s possible. Lot of questions there.

And tack that on to the questionable handling of pharmaceutical definitions they use up north and it just adds to the mystery of health care on the border for American based and licensed care givers and the lack of it in Canada.
