U.S. officials suspect Russia in mystery 'attacks' on diplomats in Cuba, China

Intelligence agencies investigating mysterious "attacks" that led to brain injuries in U.S. personnel in Cuba and China consider Russia to be the main suspect, three U.S. officials and two others briefed on the investigation tell NBC News.

The suspicion that Russia is likely behind the alleged attacks is backed up by evidence from communications intercepts, known in the spy world as signals intelligence, amassed during a lengthy and ongoing investigation involving the FBI, the CIA and other U.S. agencies. The officials declined to elaborate on the nature of the intelligence.

The evidence is not yet conclusive enough, however, for the U.S. to formally assign blame to Moscow for incidents that started in late 2016 and have continued in 2018, causing a major rupture in U.S.-Cuba relations.

Whatever techniques the Russians are using, they work. We need retaliation on the Cuban Russians at least in kind if not outright physical punishment. Do it.

No surprise here. The Russians have been very active in the covert ops arena since pretty much since Red October. From disinformation to sponsoring terrorists like Yassir Arafat to assassinations, they’ve devoted significant resources towards overseas missions that go way beyond spying.

The problem is we can’t be sure the CIA and FBI are being honest about this.

This should be easy to detect. If someone is shooting microwaves at you, The source is easy to detect. And its easy to deflect them both permanently at temporarily. I wonder if they follow American around shooting microwaves at them. It would take a sizable power source and you would likely hear it.

Propaganda, these government officials are going to say boo in the middle of this investigation unless they want to use the prostitute press.

Combine the fact that our intelligence agencies have conspired to take Trump down, have lied to us repeatedly, have pushed for war with Russia, and are now scrambling for their very lives...

You know, this may be true, but I’ll be damned if I’ll trust our (lack of) intelligence agencies to be the just bearer of this news.

They have destroyed any trust I had in them.

You know the muzzie penchant of blaming everything bad on Israel..?

I remember one Iranian guy —he lost his SHOE.

Wouldn’t ya know it..? His claim was that ISRAEL was somehow responsible for his shoe loss.

Ridiculous muzzies..! WE would never do that..!!!

Oh yes we would —with Russia.

THAT is how ridiculous our media is becoming.

Wait - is this the same FBI and CIA that very recently attempted a coup of a duly elected President in the USA?

yeah, sorry - I’m not listening to whatever they have to say.

There is good reason to suspect Russia even before this report. The fact that an attack happened in China makes Russia the prime suspect to me, and makes China relatively less likely to be responsible.

You and I will have to disagree that the Chinese would approve of another country attacking American diplomats on their soil - who are under the protection of the Chinese govt

Or that Putin, who has been expanding ties with China, would make a fool of the Chinese govt by doing so

I didn't say that China approved the attack; in fact, I implied the opposite. However, I believe it is also possible China approved the attack - on that point, I agree to disagree.
