“U.S. intelligence officials now say they suspect Russia is responsible for attacks on U.S. embassy and diplomatic personnel in Cuba that caused some hearing loss and brain damage.”

Watching CNN has the same effects on me.

So Cuba and China let Russian spies into their countries, allowed them to set up shop near the US Embassies and target US personnel with a new, secret acoustic weapon, so they can be blamed instead of Russia

OK. sure.

I have been studying ultrasound for a special application. It does not make a good weapon because it dissipates at one over R squared, where R is the distance to the target. To have a powerful enough sound to do any damage you’d have to produce an amazing amount of sound. And, while this is possible with graphene, making the transducer would be extremely difficult and cutting edge tech. Also, as the frequency increases, the range decreases. Most likely, the damage is being done with microwaves, which will essentially cook people’s brain even at a fair distance. The answer is a radiation seeking missile. Not only will it find the source, but turn it into a puff of smoke and debris.

Why make this public if it is only a suspicion?

Why not find out the proof?

Oh never mind, people don’t do that anymore.

How about subsonic sound? Travels very well.

Sound below the range of hearing is not as directional and does not carry the energy I need in my application. I understand it has some effect on nerves by creating tension and a sense of fear. It seems to me that it has been used in theaters and haunted houses to create a hair-standing-on-edge sensation. That’s not what is happening at the embassies where staff has suffered brain damage. That sounds like microwaves. The Russians used to beam microwaves at embassy windows because glass acts like a speaker and you can convert the microwaves back into audible sound to hear what is said in the room. I thought all embassies were equipped with microwave sensors for that reason. But, apparently not.

I have the same skepticism. Suddenly its Russia, Russia, Russia, again with no proof and in implausible situations.

I agree about the microwaves being used for listening in on our guys.

Russia and China have had joint war games since the mid-2000’s that I remember. I said then they were up to no good!

Thank you so much for your posts SleeperCatcher. Your username ‘SleeperCatcher’ is fitting considering all the Putin zombies one finds on FR these days.

Russia just donated millions of dollars to restore Cuba’s capital dome and there are lots of energy deals made between Russia-Cuba combined with crazy Venezuela as well.

But the Putin zombies will remain like characters on The Walking Dead. To them: even the Skirpal novichok poisoning surveillance videos from Salisbury, UK are fake. And President Trump himself must be under mind control for ordering sanction after sanction again the Kremlin. Way more than Obama ever did or had the guts to do.

How obvious can they be. First it was the Chinese doing this in both Cuba and China. Now, when Trump is about to declassify some FISA related documentation, suddenly unnamed “U.S. Intelligence officials” suspect RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA. So unexpected...NOT!

Gina Haspel leads the CIA. Trump appointed her and she gives the briefings.

That’s certainly not news. Do you think either Haspel or Pompeo are among the “US Intelligence officials” purportedly crying out this latest “Russia, Russia, Russia” nonsense?

Clearly you watched NONE of their confirmation hearings. And Pompeo’s had two, the second one being for Sec of State. They know way more about Russia than most idiots in D.C.

So, are you saying that Haspel and Pompeo ARE among NBC’s supposed sources (“US Intelligence officials”) for these latest allegations about Russia or are you saying that Haspel and Pompeo ARE NOT among the alleged sources? You must have brought up Hadpel’s and Pompeo’s names for some reason.

That they both repeatedly affirm the threat Russia poses around the world.

Pompeo was quite vocal on the issue as a Kansas Congressman also. You should look up his statements on Putin.

Haspel can speak Russian and expert also on the workings of Russian intelligence.

Ahh ... so which of them is saying Russia is responsible for “acoustic attacks”?

I don’t believe it. High frequency sound would set up lower frequency sympathetic vibrations in almost anything complex it goes through. It would be very obvious. This is something else, or it is pure B.S.
