Turkey is reinforcing its military posts inside Syria's rebel-held province of Idlib, Turkish and Syrian rebels sources say, seeking to deter a government offensive which it says would unleash a humanitarian disaster on its border.
President Tayyip Erdogan has warned that an assault by the army and its Russian and Iran-backed allies on Idlib, home to around 3 million people, will uproot hundreds of thousands in one of Syria's last rebel strongholds.
Already hosting 3.5 million Syrians - the world's biggest refugee population - Turkey says it cannot absorb more victims of the war and has accused the West of abandoning it to face the consequences of President Bashar al-Assad's reconquest of Syria.

Erdogan has zero interest in protecting any of the citizens in Idlib....he’s protecting ‘the land’ he wants to fully control.
When it comes down to it, he doesn’t want anymore refugees. If Russia and Iran back Syria and they destroy Idlib province, he’s going to let them all sail straight for Europe. The deal with the EU will be null and void.
Oh I don’t believe he doesn’t want more refugees....he’s used them as cannon fodder and a revenue milking source from the very start of the Syrian war. He’ll just fill the void of the refugees that have been dispersed over these past few years throughout Europe already.

Russia, Iran and Assad have told Turkey they will not wait to clean out the Jihadi nest. And Russia told him he would have to withdraw from Efrin (Afrin) too. Erdo has his feelies hurt.
