The Department of Critical Identity Studies seeks to develop students understanding of how social identitieslike race, gender, sexuality, class, dis/ability, nation, non/religiosityhave formed historically, along with the ways those identities play out in the complex and multicultural worlds in which we now liveand this includes the College's campus!
Combining a variety of academic disciplines (gender and womens studies, ethnic studies, queer studies, disability studies, postcolonial studies), Critical Identity Studies (CRIS) investigates the ways identities are shaped within structures of inequality and through systems and practices of power and resistance.
From the introductory course, Sex and Power, to the advanced theoretical courses which include Whiteness, Masculinities, "Gender Bending," "Race and Culture," "Feminism and Politics," "'Black Lives Matter," and Thinking Queerly, CRIS courses are always interdisciplinary, intersectional, and oriented toward social justice. As such, Critical Identity Studies emphasizes the importance of communicating across differences as a means to fulfill the Colleges mission of empowering students to lead fulfilling lives marked by high achievement, personal responsibility, and public contribution in a diverse society.
Waiting for a comment from Laz
My comment is that there is utterly no productive career path that would employ these degrees or courses.
Our colleges and universities are filled with people who do not know if they are male or female, queer or normal, and are sad and conflicted at being white.
So. Thank God for Critical Identity Studies to help these poor snowflakes find out who they are!
/src on/And only $60 k a year./src off/ The school is a joke as almost 70% of applicants are admitted. One can get indoctrinated much cheaper by going to Univ of Wisconsin in Madison.
And maybe, just maybe, which bathroom to use!
Ego ergo Id
Say what? Another internal cottage industry to employ the unemployable in college administration and to suck down federally guaranteed funds.
I cannot take that CRIS curriculum seriously as there is no mention of unicorns.
The Beloit grads could pick up a complimentary degree at Evergreen State.
The Department of WTF??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!
Should be CIS, not CRIS. My guess as to why: CIS would remind people of cisgenders, people whose gender identity matches their biological gender. That would be a micro-aggression.
People pay money for this rubbish?
Any company hiring an idiot with this degree deserves what they get.
They live in a separate world. It’s certainly not the Earth I live on. They need to go back there, since they have denied human nature and are not fit to remain on this planet.

And woe to any company that would actually hire one of these graduates. Because they all are outraged people in search of an outrage.
Seriously, someone needs to slap these snowflakes up the head and say that nobody cares who your ancestors were, where they came from or hod badly they were treated. People care about who YOU are and what you have to offer.
Study engineering
A REAL subject
Academic disciplines? More like academic insanity.
The graduates are groomed to be leftist’s.
